Chapter 93

Seeing she wouldn't press further, Anna Ross finally relaxed her tense nerves.

She knew well of Chloe Valentine's obsession with Adrian Sinclair.

If it could set her mind at ease, then so be it.

Afraid Anna might grow suspicious, Chloe changed the subject with a smile. "What kind of work does an Executive Assistant usually handle?"

Anna paused briefly.

Was she still testing her?

After a moment of silence, she answered calmly. "Daily document processing, scheduling the boss's itinerary, and occasionally handling unexpected matters."

"I see. Thank you." Chloe smiled politely, then leaned back in her seat and fell silent.

Anna looked away and did not speak further.

She actually thought Chloe had a gentle personality, striking looks, and loved Adrian so deeply...

The car stopped in front of the hotel.

Adrian was already waiting outside.

Chloe's eyes lit up. She pushed the car door open and rushed toward him.

"Adrian!"

She threw her arms around him in a tight embrace.

Anna turned her face away and silently walked to the trunk to retrieve the luggage.

As she dragged the suitcase over to them, Adrian spoke indifferently. "Let's go."

Go?

Before Anna could process it, Chloe had already linked arms with Adrian and was heading toward a black Business Van.

The vehicle had sleek lines and an imposing presence, clearly very expensive.

"Are you daydreaming?"

Adrian's impatient voice urged her on.

She hurriedly dragged all the bags and followed.

There was too much luggage. She stumbled as she walked.

Adrian's brow furrowed slightly.

After storing the luggage, Anna opened the passenger door and got in.

The back seat was reserved for the intimate couple.

"Adrian, I'm so happy we can finally return to New York together!"

Chloe clung to his arm, pressing her whole body against him.

Adrian only gave a faint acknowledgment.

Chloe pouted playfully, unwilling to let it go. "I put on makeup specially today. Do you think this lipstick shade suits me?"

She puckered her lips and leaned closer to him.

Anna caught sight of this in the rearview mirror and quickly averted her eyes.

This small movement was noticed by Adrian.

He gazed deeply at her profile.

"Chloe, sit properly."

Adrian's voice was low and distant.

Chloe pouted in grievance but didn't dare to cause more trouble.

The quiet didn't last long before she complained in a sweet, whiny voice. "Adrian, I'm thirsty."

Adrian tapped the back of the front passenger seat. "Get some water."

Anna glanced at the bottled water right next to his hand.

It was within easy reach, yet he insisted on ordering her.

She silently took the water, unscrewed the cap, and handed it to Chloe.

Chloe's face darkened.

What she wanted was Adrian's attentiveness.

"Just leave it there," she said coldly, turning her head away without another word.

Peace finally returned to the car.

Just as Anna began to relax, a sudden retching sound came from the back seat.

She was startled.
