Chapter 68

Anna Ross intended to walk past as if she hadn't seen him.

The moment they brushed shoulders, Adrian Sinclair suddenly reached out and grabbed her.

Anna forcefully shook off his hand.

She looked up, meeting his gaze directly. "Will you let me leave work now?"

She had already witnessed the entire spectacle.

He shouldn't have any reason to keep her any longer.

Adrian stared at her with a dark, gloomy eyes.

The fire inside him hadn't subsided.

She dared to make demands?

"I said no," he stated, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Anna couldn't help but let out a cold laugh. "You specifically called me here to watch you and your new flame be affectionate. Is that kind of show entertaining? Or is this just your true nature? I truly feel sorry for Miss Valentine!"

Whether it was anger or impulse, she shouted everything that had been bottled up inside.

Adrian, however, seemed to hear something pleasing.

He took a step forward, a hint of a smile actually appearing in the depths of his eyes. "What's this? Are you jealous, seeing me with someone else?"

Anna's face instantly turned pale.

His expression now frightened her.

She was afraid he would treat her the way he had before.

She hastily took a step back, explaining in a low voice, "You've misunderstood. I just think it's unfair to Miss Valentine. I'm leaving."

With that, she turned and ran, leaving only a panicked shadow behind her.

Adrian stood in place, watching her leave.

Something in his cold, deep eyes seemed to melt.

He walked into the restroom and looked at his reflection in the mirror.

Only then did he realize he was actually smiling.

He immediately restrained the smile.

When he looked up again, his usual coldness had returned.

Anna ran all the way, glancing back over her shoulder frequently.

Only when she confirmed he wasn't following did she finally relax.

She secretly regretted her earlier outburst.

In her eyes, Adrian was like a dangerous wolf.

Ready to pounce and tear her apart at any moment.

She had to maintain her distance at all times.

Returning to her seat, Sophia Roscente looked up and smiled at her. "Is your outfit okay now, Miss Ross?"

Anna was momentarily stunned before she remembered.

She hadn't actually gotten anything on her clothes.

She had just made an excuse to leave, not wanting to watch their public display of affection.

She returned the smile. "It's fine, thank you."

The two sat in silence for a moment.

Anna secretly observed Sophia.

She was the cute type, her style and momentum radiating liveliness.

But she looked very young.

Anna felt a wave of confusion.

Did Adrian prefer dating younger women now?

Hesitating for a moment, she couldn't help but ask, "Miss Roscente, may I ask how old you are?"

"I just turned twenty. Why?" Sophia's frank reply surprised her.

"Nothing, I just think you're very cute," Anna said.

The other girl chuckled. "Can't help it. I have a baby face. People often mistake me for a middle schooler!"

Anna, however, couldn't bring herself to laugh.

She took a sip of water and said softly, "Do you really think Adrian is suitable? He seems to have a fiancรฉe."
