Chapter 43
Anna Ross worried he might refuse to help.
She added softly, "I'll move out once I find a place."
Adrian Sinclair's gaze swept calmly over both of them.
......
Howard Lowell smiled, trying to smooth things over.
"Anna hasn't found a place yet. It's not convenient for her to move out now."
He secretly pondered Adrian's intentions.
"I'll arrange for a place." Adrian leaned back lazily on the sofa.
The light outlined his sharp jawline.
Anna was stunned.
This was completely unexpected.
Her intention was to seize this chance to escape Howard.
Instead, she found herself in an even more dangerous situation.
"No need to trouble you. I still need to pack my things tonight." She insisted.
Staying with the Lowells was safer than going with Adrian.
Howard breathed a sigh of relief.
He needed more time to control Anna.
Adrian narrowed his eyes.
This woman used him and then turned her back immediately.
He had plenty of time to settle this score.
Anna avoided his gaze and turned to her mother.
"You can stay tonight." Adrian stood up.
He gave her a deep look.
Anna was somewhat surprised.
He didn't make things difficult for her.
"I'll take my leave now." He gave a slight nod in farewell.
Howard pretended to urge him to stay. "Be careful on the road."
Adrian curled his lips into a smile and turned to leave.
Anna's emotions were complicated.
His behavior today was completely unlike his usual self.
She thought of their conversation this morning.
She shook her head, refusing to dwell on it further.
The moment Adrian left, Howard's expression changed instantly.
A teacup slammed heavily onto the table.
"You can move out. But you know what you need to do." He said coldly.
Anna clenched her fingers.
Howard suddenly stood up and grabbed Vivian Lowell's wrist.
"If you disobey me, your mother will pay the price." He said viciously.
Anna's face turned pale.
She tried to push his hand away, but it only caused her mother more pain.
"I'll keep an eye on Adrian and report to you." She was forced to compromise.
This was exactly why she wanted to take her mother away.
If both of them left, Howard would have no way to threaten her.
It was a pity her mother refused to go.
"Now that's more like it!"
