Chapter 456

Anna Ross initially noticed nothing unusual.

But the gaze beside her grew increasingly intense.

She finally couldn't help but look up.

She froze instantly.

"Well, if it isn't our Anna."

The man looked her over with a sleazy grin.

His eyes roamed over her body.

A wave of nausea churned in Anna's stomach.

She suppressed her panic.

"We're not acquainted," she stated coldly.

The man before her was Vincent Lombardi.

Her mother's ex-husband.

The man who had buried them under a mountain of debt.

Anna felt fate was cruelly mocking her.

Their airport encounter had been unexpected enough.

She never imagined they'd meet again.

Had she known, she would have chosen any other transport.

Vincent burst into loud laughter.

"You used to call me 'Daddy' so easily."

He deliberately brought up her mother.

"How's that gullible mother of yours doing now?"

Anna immediately went on high alert.

"I'm warning you."

"We have nothing to do with you anymore."

Surprise flickered in Vincent's eyes.

It was quickly replaced by an amused smirk.

"Don't be so sure."

"Maybe your mother misses me."

He spoke slowly, deliberately.

"Since I'm free now."

"I don't mind paying her a visit."

A chill ran down Anna's spine.

Was history about to repeat itself?

"You're despicable!"

She turned sharply to the driver. "Stop the car, please!"

The driver glanced worriedly in the rearview mirror.

"Miss, regulations forbid unscheduled stops."

Anna fumbled with her phone.

"I'll just change my destination then."

"You can't modify it now," the driver reminded her.

"We're almost at the terminal."

Anna had no choice but to give up.

She turned to stare out the window.

Trying to block out his disgusting stare.

Vincent, however, was relentless.

"I saw you at the airport last time."

"You were with some wealthy man."

"Are you married already?"

Anna's heart clenched.

He had seen everything.

"None of your business."

Her voice was icy.

The man pressed further.

"I was your father, after all."

"Shut up!"

Anna snapped sharply.

The vehicle finally came to a stop.

"Miss, we've arrived."

She grabbed her bag, ready to flee.

But a hand suddenly clamped around her wrist.
