Chapter 438

She only hoped Lucas would understand this issue.

After saying this, Anna Ross turned to leave.

Lucas Evans grabbed her wrist.

He was silent for a moment, his voice low. "You won't give me a chance because of Adrian Sinclair, right? You've reunited with him and rekindled your old flame?"

Anna's heart jolted. She shook off his hand forcefully. "Lucas, this has nothing to do with anyone else. I don't like you. I can't return your feelings. Please stop wasting your time on me."

A sudden chill ran down her spine.

It felt like a pair of eyes were watching her intently from the shadows.

Lucas's eyes instantly brightened when he heard it wasn't because of Adrian.

So he still had a chance.

He didn't believe in the idea of never liking someone.

As long as he persisted, he could win her over one day.

"Anna, I was too impulsive just now. I said things I shouldn't have. Please don't be angry." His attitude suddenly softened as he apologized in a humble tone.

Anna frowned, confused by his erratic behavior. "Lucas, did you hear what I said?"

She had clearly stated she would never like him.

She hoped he would stop pestering her.

Lucas nodded repeatedly, his smile unusually sincere. "I heard everything. I'll listen to you and behave."

Anna felt a creeping dread.

He seemed like a complete obsessive right now.

One wrong step could lead to a disastrous fall.

She steadied herself, her voice calm. "Since you understand, I'm going home now. You should head back early too."

She pushed his hand away again.

Lucas's expression shifted. He tried to reach for her once more.

"Don't follow me. I want to be alone." Anna stopped him before he could move.

Lucas froze in place like a withered plant.

He looked as if a strong wind could knock him over.

Adrian's eyes turned cold. He was about to step forward.

Chloe Valentine suddenly rushed out from the side. She clung tightly to his arm, whining tearfully. "Adrian, why did you come out here? While you were gone, several strange men tried to hit on me. I was so scared."

Adrian was forced to stop.

He could only watch the slender figure walk further away, eventually disappearing into the darkness.

His gaze darkened as he looked down at the person beside him. "Chloe, if you were scared, you shouldn't have brought me here in the first place."

Chloe's heart trembled.

Had he figured something out?

She looked up and saw Lucas standing there alone.

Where was Anna? Why was he by himself?

According to her plan, Adrian should have witnessed an intimate scene between the two.

That way, he would stop thinking about Anna.

Last time, if it weren't for Sophia Roscente interfering, they would already be engaged.

"Adrian, I just wanted to help you relax. I want to go home now. Can you take me back?" She was unwilling, but since Anna was gone, there was no reason to stay.

Adrian raised his hand, signaling for her to let go.
