Chapter 208
Chloe Valentine's intentions were crystal clear.
Anna Ross walked up to Chloe Lombardi.
Her gaze was calm like still water.
"Director Valentine put you up to this, didn't she?"
Chloe Lombardi's face darkened instantly.
She glared fiercely at Anna.
Her voice was icy cold.
"No."
"I told you, this is my own revenge."
A flicker of anger passed through Adrian Sinclair's eyes.
He cut in sharply.
"Enough."
"I'm calling her over now."
Chloe Valentine pushed the door open.
The moment she entered, she shot Anna a cold, sharp look.
Then she immediately glued herself to Adrian's side.
Her voice turned sugary sweet.
"Adrian, you needed me?"
Chloe Lombardi's lips parted slightly.
She seemed to want to say something.
A single glance from Chloe Valentine silenced her.
Adrian looked at Anna.
"Ask whatever you need to ask. Now."
Anna suppressed her nervousness.
She looked directly at Chloe Valentine.
"The data breach has been investigated."
"It was done by this new colleague."
Chloe feigned surprise.
She turned to Chloe Lombardi.
"Why would you do such a thing?"
Chloe Lombardi hung her head low.
"I'm sorry. I've let you down."
A satisfied smile tugged at Chloe Valentine's lips.
She clung to Adrian's arm.
Her tone was full of false regret.
"To think we have someone like this in the company."
"She must be fired."
Anna pressed on calmly.
"Director Valentine, why did you approve her probation period early?"
Chloe Valentine toyed with her phone.
Completely unruffled.
"Of course it was because I recognized her talent."
"Any other questions?"
Anna clenched her jaw.
"Nothing else."
Adrian spoke up at the right moment.
"This matter ends here."
Anna said no more.
She understood his difficult position.
Chloe Valentine was, after all, his fiancรฉe.
Chloe Lombardi was fired.
Chloe Valentine shot Anna a triumphant glance.
As if flaunting her privileged status.
Anna left quietly.
She ran into Lucas Evans on her way downstairs.
She intended to avoid him.
But he called out to her first.
"Anna, what a coincidence."
Anna stopped.
She decided to tell him the outcome.
"The data breach has been cleared up."
"It was done by a new employee."
She swallowed all her grievances.
Not mentioning Chloe Valentine at all.
Lucas's smile was as warm as sunlight.
"I always believed in you."
"I'm glad it's resolved."
She remained silent.
A thorn seemed lodged in her heart.
"Mr. Evans, what a coincidence."
"I need to speak with you."
They both looked up.
Adrian approached with one hand in his pocket.
His gaze fixed on her.
Lucas watched him warily.
"About what?"
"I'm reassigning this project's lead."
His tone was detached.
Lucas gave a cold laugh.
"I insist on working with her!"
"I said no!"
Adrian didn't back down an inch.
The atmosphere instantly turned tense and hostile.
