Chapter 431

Anna Ross sat for a moment.

She stood up to get something for her mother.

As she passed the restroom, she heard hushed voices inside.

"Lao Wang, I thought about what you mentioned yesterday all night. It's definitely feasible."

"But Adrian Sinclair is sharp. Would he notice if we do this?"

Howard Lowell's voice came through the door.

Anna immediately stopped walking.

She instinctively covered her mouth.

She couldn't hear the response on the other end of the phone.

Howard suddenly laughed.

"You're right! Let's discuss the details in person later."

"Someone's home today. I have to go."

Hearing footsteps approaching, Anna quickly slipped into the kitchen.

Vivian Lowell was washing fruit.

She looked surprised to see her daughter. "Anna? I thought I told you to wait in the living room."

But Anna seemed distracted.

Who was the "Lao Wang" Howard mentioned?

What were they planning to do to Adrian?

"Anna?" Vivian waved a hand in front of her face.

Anna snapped back to attention.

She took the fruit from her mother and helped wash it.

"Nothing. I was just wondering why you suddenly bought a house."

"Your father said staying in a hotel was inconvenient. He specifically bought this place."

"It's not big, but it's very comfortable." Vivian smiled happily.

Anna paused.

Howard actually considered these things.

It seemed he planned to stay in New York long-term.

"What are you two talking about?" Howard walked into the kitchen smiling.

His tone was unusually gentle.

Vivian brought out a fruit platter. "Our daughter helped wash the fruit. Come try some."

The scene resembled a happy family of three.

But Anna didn't believe it.

She had suffered too much.

She no longer trusted appearances easily.

Howard noticed her standing still.

He reached out to pull her. "Anna, your mother is calling you."

Anna sidestepped his hand. "I know."

She quickly walked out of the kitchen.

She sat down beside her mother.

Howard followed and sat opposite them.

"Anna, what do you think of this house?"

He ate a grape and gestured around the room.

Anna responded flatly, "It's nice."

Vivian peeled a pear and handed it to her. "Anna, do you want to move back home?"

Anna immediately shook her head. "No, Mom. My current place is close to the company. It's very convenient."

She had finally escaped his control.

She would never come back.

Vivian was startled by her decisiveness.

Then she smiled. "Okay. Mom just misses you too much."
