Chapter 382

The scene shifted.

Sophia Roscente and her mother pushed the door open and entered.

Chloe Valentine's pupils constricted violently.

Her eyes widened almost to the point of splitting.

Tears welled up, swirling in her gaze.

She looked helplessly toward Grandpa.

Adrian Sinclair's cold gaze swept over her.

His thin lips parted slightly. "Explain."

Chloe trembled from head to toe.

Her lips turned pale.

Explain?

The evidence was right before their eyes.

What explanation could there possibly be?

Anna Ross averted her gaze.

She sighed inwardly.

The Valentine heiress would do such a thing.

All for a man.

Grandpa's expression darkened.

His voice was cold. "I told Chloe to do it."

Adrian stiffened.

He looked at his grandfather in disbelief.

Would Grandpa really do that?

Or was he just protecting Chloe?

"My boy, your grandfather is old."

"My only wish is to see you settle down."

Grandpa pulled Chloe closer to his side.

He patted her hand reassuringly. "I've waited far too long."

Chloe snapped out of her panic.

Secret delight bloomed in her heart.

Not only was Grandpa not blaming her, he was covering for her.

A flicker of guilt passed through Adrian's eyes.

His brow furrowed tightly. "Grandpa, I understand."

"But I need time."

Grandpa let out a long sigh.

He finally relented. "The engagement will be postponed for now."

"I'll give you time."

"But remember this."

"The only person you can marry is Chloe."

He patted the back of Chloe's hand.

A silent signal for her to relax.

Chloe forcefully suppressed her dissatisfaction.

To marry Adrian Sinclair, she could wait.

Since Grandpa had provided a way out, she would naturally take it.

"Grandpa, I was too impatient."

She raised a bright, dazzling smile.

But shadows lurked deep within her eyes. "I'm willing to wait for him."

The corner of Adrian's mouth lifted slightly.

A faint, almost mocking smile. "Good."

"Then wait properly."

She was the first to ever dare scheme against him.

"Adrian, that's enough."

Grandpa shot him a warning glance.

He then looked at Sophia. "Sophia, let this matter end here."

Sophia had achieved her goal.

She couldn't be bothered to stir up more trouble.

She casually deleted the video.

Grandpa took one last look at the person on the bed.

He shook his head.

He left, taking Chloe with him.
