Chapter 492
Niamh Ethelred was busy in the kitchen with Rowan.
They were preparing to make cookies.
Mrs.Melford was cleaning the living room.
The landline phone in the villa suddenly rang.
Mrs.Melford was a bit puzzled.
Everyone had a mobile phone now.
This phone had practically become a decoration.
She had worked here for so long.
This was the first time she had heard it ring.
"Hello, Sinclair residence," Mrs.Melford answered the phone.
"Is Niamh Ethelred there?" Adrian Sinclair's voice came from the other end.
Mrs.Melford was taken aback.
"Sir? You're looking for Ms. Ethelred?"
"Is she at the villa?" Adrian asked.
"Yes, Ms. Ethelred is in the kitchen, making cookies with the young miss. Should I call her for you?" Mrs.Melford inquired carefully.
"No need. It's fine that she's there." Adrian hung up after saying this.
Mrs.Melford put down the phone, feeling somewhat confused.
The sir had specifically called.
But only to confirm if Ms. Ethelred was here.
She took out her phone and glanced at it.
She realized it had been switched to airplane mode at some point.
She remembered her grandson had played with her phone yesterday.
He must have pressed something by mistake.
"That could have caused trouble," Mrs.Melford muttered softly.
Niamh Ethelred peeked out from the kitchen.
"Mrs.Melford, what's wrong?"
"Nothing, sir just called and asked if you were here," Mrs.Melford explained.
Niamh Ethelred's cheeks flushed slightly.
She thought of Rowan's words again.
"Did he say anything else?"
"He hung up after knowing you were here," Mrs.Melford said.
Niamh Ethelred was lost in thought.
Was he looking for her?
Or just confirming her whereabouts?
She shook her head and stopped overthinking it.
"Mrs.Melford, where is the icing sugar?"
"I'll get it for you." Mrs.Melford walked into the kitchen.
She took a new pack of icing sugar from the cabinet.
Rowan's small hands were covered in flour.
Mrs.Melford smiled and encouraged her.
"You can do it, young miss."
"I'll treat you to cookies later," Rowan said sweetly.
Niamh Ethelred measured the icing sugar.
She added it to the butter and mixed it well.
Rowan watched intently.
Half an hour later.
A tempting aroma wafted from the oven.
Rowan brought out the baked cookies.
"Mrs.Melford, try some quickly."
Mrs.Melford washed her hands and picked up a piece.
"It's delicious!"
"Big sister made them. I only helped," Rowan said shyly.
"You helped too," Niamh Ethelred said with a smile.
She put on her scarf and overcoat.
Rowan looked up.
"Where are you going, big sister?"
"To pick up Jason and Todd from school." Niamh Ethelred patted her head.
"Be good at home."
Rowan nodded obediently.
"I will."
Niamh Ethelred left.
Forty minutes later.
She returned with the two boys.
Todd smelled the aroma as soon as he entered.
His eyes lit up.
"Big sister, did you make cookies?"
"Rowan and I made them together. They're in the kitchen. Go have some," Niamh Ethelred said with a smile.
Todd cheered and ran toward the kitchen.
But Jason remained standing where he was.
Niamh Ethelred found it strange.
"Aren't you going to have some cookies?"
"Little brother will save some for me," Jason said calmly.
Niamh Ethelred patted his head.
"Go have some, but don't eat too many. You won't have room for dinner later."
Jason frowned slightly.
"Big sister, if little brother eats like this, will he become fat?"
Niamh Ethelred couldn't help but laugh.
"No, neither of you gains weight easily."
"I'm still worried," Jason said seriously.
"Then go remind him to eat less." Niamh Ethelred took his hand and walked toward the kitchen.
Todd was happily eating.
He waved when he saw them.
"Brother, the cookies are delicious. Come try them!"
Jason walked over.
"How many have you eaten already?"
