Chapter 58
"Wow, then what happened?"
Mia Lawrence's eyes sparkled as she leaned closer to Anna Ross.
Anna couldn't help but laugh.
"He's well-off, exceptionally handsome, and has a gentle personality."
"Much better than an iceberg like Adrian Sinclair."
She paused briefly.
"It's a shame you didn't go."
Anna surprised herself by comparing him to Adrian.
Perhaps it was because he kept appearing everywhere.
No matter how hard she tried to avoid him.
Mia immediately shook her head.
"I don't regret it at all."
"I don't want to get married right now."
"Especially not through a family-arranged blind date."
She pursed her lips.
"Who does that in this day and age?"
Anna chuckled softly.
She knew her best friend valued independence.
Following orders was never an option for her.
Mia suddenly turned serious.
"Anna, have you ever thought about moving to another city?"
Anna was taken aback.
"Why are you asking this suddenly?"
Mia rarely brought up such topics.
It took Anna a moment to process the question.
Mia let out a long sigh.
"I'm tired of being pressured about marriage every day."
"I really want to just leave everything behind."
Anna finally understood her intention.
She wanted to escape too.
But...
"Mia, I can't leave."
"Mom is still with the Lowells."
She lowered her gaze.
If she left alone, she didn't know what might happen to her mother.
Mia looked thoughtful.
"Didn't you want to take Aunt Vivian away before?"
"Now that you've moved out, it's the perfect opportunity."
Anna smiled bitterly.
"I don't have enough savings."
"There are too many uncertainties after leaving."
She didn't dare take the risk.
She had weighed these problems repeatedly.
What made things more complicated was Adrian.
He forced her into the Executive Assistant position.
She couldn't move freely now.
Mia said urgently, "Money can be earned slowly."
"It's better than being trapped here."
Seeing her friend suffer pained her deeply.
Anna stood up to pour water.
She handed a glass to her friend.
"Mom doesn't want to leave herself."
Even during the most desperate times.
Vivian Lowell refused to leave.
"Why?"
Mia couldn't understand.
Life was clearly so difficult.
Yet she refused liberation.
Anna sighed softly.
"She won't say."
"I suspect it's because of the debts."
"Howard Lowell helped us pay them off."
They had to repay him.
This might be her mother's unresolved issue.
Once the debts were cleared.
She could take her away.
Mia sensed her helplessness.
She reached out and hugged her.
"Things will get better."
Anna patted her back.
"Yeah."
She believed everything would improve.
Whether it was the debts or other matters.
Mia suddenly released her.
She blinked her eyes rapidly.
"You've been spending a lot of time with Adrian Sinclair lately."
"Are old feelings resurfacing?"
