Chapter 328

Anna Ross lowered her head in silence.

The boutique was brilliantly lit, making her cheeks feel warm.

Adrian Sinclair's voice sounded beside her. "Aunt Cecilia is hosting a party tonight. All the guests will be dressed formally. You don't need to feel out of place."

When she looked up, he was already walking toward a sales assistant, speaking in low tones.

Anna glanced at the price tag. Her fingers trembled slightly.

The cost of this gown equaled several months of her salary. Yet it would only be worn once. It felt excessively extravagant.

The sales assistant approached with a smile, gesturing for her to follow. "This way, please. We will do your hair and makeup."

Anna hesitated, looking back.

Adrian lounged lazily on the sofa. He raised an eyebrow, signaling for her to relax.

The makeup artist applied light cosmetics. Her curls were swept up into an elegant chignon.

When she stepped out of the fitting room again, Adrian's gaze deepened instantly. He seemed rooted to the spot.

The sales assistant couldn't help but exclaim, "You look absolutely stunning."

The tips of Anna's ears turned pink.

Adrian strode over and pulled her into his arms. "Time to go." His breath brushed against her hair.

"Wait, the paymentโ€”" Anna said urgently.

The sales assistant smiled. "This gentleman has already taken care of it."

Silence filled the car.

He leaned over to fasten her seatbelt. His shirt sleeve brushed against her arm.

Anna shrank toward the window. She heard the dull thud of his door closing.

The villa was ablaze with lights.

Sophia Roscente fluttered over like a joyful butterfly. She circled Anna with repeated exclamations. "Sis, you look like a fairy descended from heaven!"

She gestured dramatically, her eyes sparkling.

Adrian walked past with his hands in his pockets. He tossed out a comment. "I picked the dress." His tone held a trace of concealed pride.

Sophia immediately covered her mouth to suppress a giggle. She winked at Anna.

The banquet hall was filled with socialites.

Silk gowns and glittering jewels reflected the light. The ladies' laughter rang out like silver bells.

Anna quietly clenched her fist. Without him, she would have been completely lost.

Cecilia Roscente made her way through the crowd. Her eyes lit up when they landed on Anna. "Anna, you are breathtakingly beautiful tonight."

She warmly linked arms with Anna.

Anna looked up and met an intense gaze.

Adrian stood under the crystal chandelier, swirling his glass. His eyes enveloped her like a net.

Sophia whispered into her mother's ear. Cecilia burst into laughter. "So that's how it is."
