Chapter 79

Adrian Sinclair didn't expect her to agree so readily.

Surprise flickered in his eyes.

Yet he felt an inexplicable sense of relief.

The previous gloom quietly dissipated.

His gaze turned to Anna Ross.

His voice remained flat. "Since you've decided to return to New York with me, wrap up your affairs in San Francisco these next few days."

"Don't cause a last-minute mess and create trouble for me."

Anna quickly nodded.

"Don't worry, I won't cause you any trouble."

She had finally completed Howard Lowell's task.

Her mother was temporarily safe.

Compared to the potential harm her mother might face, staying by Adrian's side seemed less frightening.

She even felt that Adrian seemed different from before.

Adrian watched her poorly concealed happy expression.

He paused slightly.

Did she actually want to stay by his side?

Anna looked up to get some food.

She directly met his deep gaze.

His intense stare made her flush.

She hurriedly lowered her head.

Adrian let out a very soft laugh.

It was so quiet it seemed like just a breath.

Marcus Hill watched their charged exchange.

He suddenly felt excessively like a third wheel.

He deliberately exclaimed dramatically. "Wow, since when did our Mr. Sinclair become so considerate?"

"Actually giving someone time to handle personal matters?"

"You were never like this before."

His eyes darted between them.

Anna nearly choked hearing the word "considerate."

She couldn't associate Adrian with gentleness at all.

Adrian shot him a cold glance.

Marcus immediately shut up.

He petulantly piled food onto his plate.

He grumbled inwardly.

So gentle with the girl.

So cold with his bro.

......

Anna felt like she was sitting on pins and needles.

Adrian's gaze kept falling on her.

She needed an excuse to get some air.

Noticing several dishes hadn't arrived yet.

She had an idea.

"You two keep eating. I'll go check on the remaining dishes."

"Mhm." Adrian glanced at the empty plates and didn't stop her.

Anna stood up and left.

She carefully closed the door behind her.

Marcus stared thoughtfully at the closed door.

He suddenly leaned in and asked. "Sinclair, be honest. What's your real relationship with that girl?"

Based on his understanding of Adrian, it definitely wasn't just an executive assistant.

Adrian glanced at him but didn't respond.

Marcus persisted. "Why so secretive? If you like her, I can help, bro."

He winked, looking like he knew exactly what was going on.

"Mind your own business." Adrian said leisurely. "Worry about yourself first. I heard your family is pushing marriage hard?"

"Ugh, don't remind me." Marcus's face immediately fell. He put down his fork and knife and slumped into his chair. "I came to San Francisco specifically to avoid this."

"My family forced an arranged marriage on me. But I don't want that kind of relationship."
