Chapter 72

The wind howled in her ears.

Yet Anna Ross's heart beat even faster.

Stepping into the house.

Her tension finally eased slightly.

Vivian Lowell rose immediately at the sound.

She hurried forward and took her daughter's hand.

Joy radiated from her face.

"Anna, you're back."

She quickly noticed something was off about Anna.

Her body temperature was high, her breathing rapid.

Vivian couldn't help but scold.

"How did you get so exhausted?

Have some water first to calm down."

Anna was surprised to see her mother.

She didn't take the water glass.

Instead, she urgently pulled her mother aside for a careful check.

"Mom, are you okay?"

Vivian smiled gently.

She pressed Anna down onto the sofa.

"I'm fine, don't worry.

He didn't do anything to me."

Anna checked repeatedly.

Seeing her mother truly wasn't hurt.

She finally let out a long sigh of relief.

She took the water glass and drank deeply.

Vivian looked at her lovingly.

"Drink slowly, don't choke."

Anna didn't have time to respond.

She finished the entire glass quickly.

Just as she wiped her mouth to speak.

Howard Lowell approached the sofa.

He couldn't be bothered to look at Vivian.

He spoke coldly directly to Anna.

"I have something to discuss with you alone.

Come with me."

He turned and walked toward the study.

Anna bit her lip.

No matter how unwilling, she could only comply.

Vivian sensed her mood.

She patted her hand worriedly.

"Anna, I know you're resentful.

But right now, you must humor him."

Anna nodded obediently.

"I know, Mom, don't worry.

I understand priorities."

She rose and followed him into the study.

Before she could even stand still, a command came.

"Close the door."

Howard's icy voice reached her.

Anna obediently closed the door.

Howard leisurely sat in his office chair.

"What has Adrian Sinclair been up to lately?"

Hearing this question.

Anna's heart tightened.

Should she really tell him everything?

Seeing her strange expression and silence.

Howard's face instantly darkened.

"What? Don't care about your mother anymore?"

Anna glared at him hatefully.

But it only earned a scornful laugh.

She was too weak to protect her mother.

She closed her eyes and spoke coldly.

"He's been with another girl recently.

No need to worry about the engagement with the Valentine family."

"Another girl?"

Howard crossed his arms, scrutinizing her.

Seeing she didn't seem to be lying, he pressed further.

"Which family's daughter is she?"

He suspected Adrian had connected with another powerful family.

His look toward Anna grew even more disdainful.

"All this time, and you still haven't secured him."

Anna frowned.

She truly didn't know the identity.

She could only shake her head and say flatly.

"I don't know her background.

I only know her name is Sophia Roscente."
