Chapter 402
Anna Ross noticed many eyes on her and Adrian Sinclair as they walked.
She could faintly hear people whispering around them.
"They look so perfect together."
"Yes, they seem like a couple."
Anna's cheeks warmed slightly.
Though the comments were quiet, she heard every word clearly.
Adrian must have heard them too.
The Executive Assistant led the way.
She looked up at the man's back ahead of him.
His steps were calm, his demeanor composed.
It was as if he hadn't heard a thing.
The Executive Assistant stopped and gestured politely.
Adrian glanced back at her.
He signaled for her to enter with him.
Anna stepped into the conference room.
It was filled with people.
After a brief exchange with the person in charge, Adrian took his seat.
She stood quietly by his side.
She had researched this person in charge last night.
There was very little information online.
But the industries he managed aligned perfectly with the Lowell Group's new project.
The Lowell Group clearly wanted to secure this collaboration.
It would accelerate the development of their new venture.
The meeting lasted the entire afternoon.
Anna's back ached from standing.
She finally understood why this project was so difficult to advance.
Even Adrian seemed to be struggling.
They walked out of the conference room.
Anna couldn't help but rub her sore legs.
The long hours of standing had exhausted her.
Though she only handed out documents, her feet could no longer support her.
She looked down.
Her high heels had rubbed her heels raw and red.
Every step sent a sharp pain through her.
Adrian suddenly stopped.
He took a card from his bag.
Anna recognized it as an elegant suite card.
"Go back to the hotel first."
"Your foreign language skills are good. You shouldn't get lost."
Adrian's gaze rested on her face.
Anna silently took the suite card.
She nodded.
Adrian turned and left.
Without another word.
She looked at the suite card.
After searching for the hotel's location, she hailed a taxi.
Arriving at the hotel lobby, she prepared to return to her room.
But several enthusiastic foreign girls pulled her aside.
They excitedly asked to take photos with her.
Anna felt a bit helpless.
But they were very strong.
She had no choice but to pose for a few pictures.
The girls were extremely lively.
They expressed how happy they were to meet her.
Anna realized that to them, she was also a foreigner.
After the photos, they finally released her.
Gritting her teeth against the pain in her feet, she headed toward the elevator.
A waiter carrying red wine approached from the opposite direction.
She deliberately moved aside to avoid a collision.
But someone nearby accidentally bumped into the waiter.
The red wine instantly spilled onto the floor.
Glass shattered, and wine splattered everywhere.
Anna couldn't dodge in time.
Her white skirt was stained with large patches of red.
The waiter panicked, apologizing repeatedly.
"I'm so sorry! I'm truly sorry!"
He looked at the mess on the floor, his eyes filled with fear.
Anna waved her hand gently.
"It's alright. Don't blame yourself."
Fortunately, she had brought spare clothes.
She could change once she went upstairs.
But this waiter would likely face punishment.
