Chapter 175
Sophia Roscente hurried out the door.
Her anxious gaze immediately landed on Marcus Hill.
She instinctively moved to approach him.
But then she caught sight of Adrian Sinclair's stern profile.
Her step faltered, and she quietly withdrew.
Adrian's brow furrowed slightly.
A wave of helplessness washed over him.
He softened his tone. "Don't worry. I didn't lay a hand on him."
His cold eyes swept toward Marcus. "Remember your promise."
Sophia's eyes instantly lit up.
She looked at her cousin with delight. "You agreed?"
She happily linked her arm with Adrian's.
She pressed her cheek against his shoulder, cooing. "You're the best, cousin!"
Marcus stood to the side.
A flicker of jealousy passed through his eyes.
The girl had never been this affectionate with him.
Adrian clicked his tongue softly.
He pushed her head away. "Cut it out."
Sophia wasn't offended.
She smiled brightly and ran to Marcus's side.
She tightly grasped his hand.
Adrian watched his sister's radiant smile.
He felt suddenly dazed.
She looked genuinely happy.
He couldn't protect her forever.
It was better to let her pursue the life she wanted.
He turned around.
His eyes met Anna Ross's gaze.
Anna quickly wiped the smile from her face.
She looked away.
Sophia subtly shot her a look.
Anna understood.
She gently nudged the person beside her. "Let's not disturb them."
Adrian didn't respond.
Anna thought he disagreed.
She simply took his hand and pulled him aside.
Adrian looked down at their intertwined hands.
This was the second time she had initiated contact today.
A faint smile unconsciously touched his lips.
Anna suddenly stopped walking.
He quickly schooled his expression.
Anna panickily release his hand and apologized in a low voice. "I'm sorry."
She clutched the hem of his clothes in frustration.
She had been too rushed and forgot to maintain distance.
Adrian's voice was low. "Making decisions without me. Aren't you afraid I'll get angry?"
The night breeze brushed past, carrying his crisp scent.
Anna suppressed her pounding heart.
She explained softly, "I just thoughtโ"
"Enough." He cut her off.
He walked straight toward the car door. "This ends here."
Anna stood still.
Her chest felt tight and suffocating.
He was always so unpredictable.
Maybe he found her flustered state amusing.
She took out her phone to call a ride.
The car window rolled down.
His impatient voice came through. "Get in the car."
