Chapter 473
The call connected.
Sophia Roscente frowned deeply.
She lowered her voice to a sharp whisper.
"Cousin, did you upset Anna? She seems really upset."
Silence filled the other end.
Only the noise of moving vehicles.
A woman's voice faintly mixed in.
Sophia felt a twinge of suspicion.
She glanced toward the bathroom.
Was Anna's low mood because her cousin left with another woman?
Who could that woman be?
She took a bite of noodles.
Her eyes questioned the person beside her.
Getting no response, she pressed further.
"Is someone there with you?"
Before Adrian Sinclair could speak, a familiar female voice answered first.
"Sophia, it's me."
Sophia froze.
Her appetite vanished instantly.
No wonder the voice sounded familiar earlier.
It was her, putting on airs.
Adrian's cold voice cut in.
"End the call."
The line went dead abruptly.
Sophia tossed her phone aside.
She sighed helplessly.
"Their relationship is so complicated. I really think Cousin likes Anna."
Marcus Hill was eating noodles.
He nearly choked hearing this.
Sophia handed him a glass of water.
He took a few sips before recovering.
"I think so too. But he's too stubborn. He never says how he feels. How would the other person know?"
"Did you know Anna is his ex-girlfriend? His first love, actually." Sophia lowered her voice, leaning close to his ear.
She still remembered clearly how heartbroken her cousin looked back then.
She thought he had moved on.
But seeing her again, he's still caught in the same feelings.
Anna Ross is so wonderful.
Even she can't help but like her.
Her cousin falling for her again is completely natural.
"I had a feeling. All these years, besides her, Adrian has never been special to anyone." Marcus finished his noodles, even drinking up the broth.
Sophia rested her chin on her hand.
She genuinely hoped they would reconcile.
Marcus chuckled and shook his head.
"Feelings are something they have to work out themselves."
"You worrying won't help." Sophia thought it over.
She felt he made sense.
But she still wanted to do something.
Anna came out of the bathroom.
Seeing the two still eating, she went straight to the bedroom.
She saw the jacket.
She folded it neatly.
Placed it in a bag.
The next day, she brought it to the company.
Ready to return it to its owner.
Anna went upstairs with the item.
She searched the office but found no one.
Just as she wondered where he was, she ran into Noah Watson.
He was on the phone, walking hurriedly.
His expression was grave, his steps rushed.
Something major seemed to have happened.
Noah noticed Anna.
He ended the call briefly and stopped.
"Executive Assistant Ross, here for Mr. Sinclair?"
Anna looked at the item in her hand.
She asked softly about his whereabouts.
"Is he not in the office?"
Noah's expression was heavy.
He paused before responding.
"There's an emergency at the company. Mr. Sinclair is in an urgent meeting."
"It should be ending soon. You can wait here."
