Chapter 171
Silence fell.
The private room was dead quiet.
Sophiaโs mind went blank.
She stared at Marcus Hill.
She couldnโt understand why he suddenly confessed.
He got to play the hero.
But what about her?
Adrian Sinclair slowly clapped.
His gaze was cold enough to freeze.
"Good friend."
"I asked you to look after her."
"Is this how you do it?"
He stood up and grabbed Marcus by the collar.
Marcus was lifted off his feet.
Anna Ross and Sophia were both stunned.
Neither knew how to react.
But Marcus showed no fear.
He only looked at Adrian with guilt.
"Adrian."
"I was wrong."
"But you can't control who you fall for."
"You should understand that."
He glanced meaningfully at Anna.
Adrianโs aura turned icy.
He stared coldly at Marcus.
"So that's why you hid it from me?"
He wanted to punch this guy.
Then throw him out of New York.
"I didn't mean to hide it."
"I just couldn't find the right time."
"Maybe it's better you found out."
Marcus actually sounded grievance.
Sophia saw things going south.
She rushed over and grabbed Adrian's arm.
"Cousin!"
"It's all my fault!"
"I told him not to tell you!"
"Be mad at me!"
She believed her cousin wouldn't really hurt her.
She could always sweet talk her way out.
Adrian let go.
He rubbed his temples.
His breathing was heavy.
He always treated her like a little sister.
He never thought she could cause so much trouble.
"You have the nerve to say that?"
"Sneaking back to the country is one thing."
"Now you're involved with my friend?"
He sighedๆ ๅฅ.
His lips pressed into a tight line.
"Wait till your mother finds out."
"See how you handle that!"
He almost shouted.
Sophia turned pale with fear.
Tears welled up in her eyes.
She looked at him pitifully.
"Cousin, I know I was wrong."
"Please don't tell my mom."
She rubbed her small hands together.
Like a kitten.
It was hard not to soften.
Anna felt sympathy for her.
But she also wanted to laugh.
This was Sophia's signature move.
No one could resist her when she coquetted.
It was too adorable.
She glanced at Adrian.
Sure enough.
His expression softened slightly.
But it was still gloomy and terrifying.
Adrian sat back down.
Sophia immediately went to massage his shoulders.
"Cousin."
"Think of how good I usually am."
"Please let me off this time."
"How many times have you said that?"
Sophia pouted.
"This time is different."
"If you don't want me to tell, confess to your mom yourself."
"She just called me two days ago."
"You don't want her to hear it from someone else, do you?"
Adrian gave her a sidelong glance.
His voice was cold.
Sophia nodded quickly.
"I'll confess!"
She smiled obediently.
Like a good child admitting fault.
Only she knew.
If she didn't agree.
This cold-blooded cousin would send her back immediately.
Then she would be in even bigger trouble.
