Chapter 76

"Mhm." A cool reply came from the other end of the line.

Anna Ross was surprised.

He didn't ask any further questions.

She didn't dare say more, afraid he might change his mind.

"I'll return to the company right after dropping her off."

The call ended.

She stared at her phone screen, a strange feeling stirring inside her.

The next day, Anna took a taxi to JFK Airport.

She looked around, searching for Mia Lawrence.

Suddenly, she noticed a man acting suspiciously behind Mia.

The man's hand was reaching toward Mia's backpack.

Anna's blood boiled.

How could this happen in broad daylight?

She rushed forward and grabbed the man.

She slapped him with all her strength.

The man's head snapped to the side.

A red mark appeared on his handsome face.

He stared at Anna in shock.

Mia turned around at the sound.

"Anna? What's wrong?"

Anna pointed at the man.

"He's a creep!"

The man quickly defended himself.

"My bag got tangled with her suitcase!"

Anna looked down.

Sure enough, their bag straps were twisted together.

Her face flushed bright red.

She frantically tried to untangle the straps.

"I'm so sorry. I misunderstood."

The man took a step back, his eyes wary.

"Make sure you see clearly before attacking next time."

He rubbed his cheek and walked away.

Anna stomped her foot in frustration.

"I'm such an idiot."

Mia patted her shoulder with a smile.

"You were just looking out for me."

Anna still felt terrible.

She decided to stay calmer in the future.

Mia checked the time.

"I need to head in now."

Anna quickly hugged her.

"Call me when you arrive."

Mia nodded firmly.

"Take good care of yourself."

They said their reluctant goodbyes.

Anna watched her disappear into the crowd.

She turned and hailed a taxi to Adrian Sinclair's company.
