Chapter 20
Anna Ross pushed the car door open.
She had one foot out.
Adrian Sinclair lunged forward.
He grabbed her wrist.
Anna was yanked back into the car.
Adrian loomed over her instantly.
She struggled to push him away.
He only pressed down harder.
Adrian shifted, seizing her other hand.
He pinned both her wrists above her head with one hand.
Anna was powerless to resist.
He slammed the car door shut.
The driver stared, stunned, through the rearview mirror.
He hesitated before speaking.
โThe young lady doesnโt seem willing to go with you.โ
Adrian shot the driver a cold glance.
โCanโt you tell itโs a loversโ quarrel?โ
โDrive.โ
The driver, intimidated by his aura, quickly started the car.
Annaโs heart ached sharply at the word โlovers.โ
It was true once.
But not anymore.
She suddenly became aware of their humiliating position.
She was lying flat on the seat.
Her hands were pinned above her head.
Her ankles were gripped firmly by him.
Adrian leaned in closer.
His warm breath brushed her ear.
โStill trying to run?โ
โThe more you run, the tighter Iโll hold on.โ
The air in the car grew thick and tense.
Anna turned her face away.
Her wrists ached.
โI wonโt run.โ
โLet me go.โ
Adrianโs fingers trailed along her leg.
โWhy should I let go?โ
โIsnโt this what you wanted?โ
His voice was low and husky.
โLast time, you dressed like that to seduce me.โ
A shiver ran through Annaโs body.
โDonโt bring up the past.โ
โIโm not feeling well right now.โ
โPlease let me go.โ
Adrian moved even closer.
A low chuckle echoed in the car.
โWhat if I donโt?โ
Anna had nowhere to retreat.
She suddenly jerked her knee upward.
Adrian grunted in pain.
His grip loosened.
Anna scrambled to the car door.
Adrian braced himself against the seat.
His brow was furrowed.
His gaze was icy and terrifying.
Anna didnโt dare look at him.
She seemed to have hit a sensitive spot.
He probably wanted to kill her now.
