Chapter 378
Anna's heart hammered against her ribs.
Her throat was dry and tight.
A cold blade pressed against her neck.
"Hurry up!" The man increased the pressure, the edge biting into her skin.
A sharp pain made her hold her breath.
The door suddenly swung open.
Adrian Sinclair stood in the doorway.
His gaze swept the room, turning icy cold.
Anna froze. Why was it him?
She had clearly contacted Lucas.
"Back off if you don't want her dead! Let me go!" The man holding her trembled.
Adrian let out a cold laugh. "Do it. Take her life now."
"Adrian!" Anna stared at him in disbelief.
Did he truly not care if she lived or died?
Adrian stepped closer. "If you kill her, I will make you wish you were dead."
His eyes darkened. "I've been needing someone to practice on lately."
The man dragged Anna backward. "Stop bluffing!"
Adrian advanced step by step. "Once you walk through that door, you're not leaving."
Madness flashed in the man's eyes. "Then we all die together!"
The blade pressed down hard.
Anna cried out in pain. She bent her head and sank her teeth into his wrist.
Adrian's pupils contracted. Seeing blood well from her neck, he exploded into motion.
The man yelped and released her, cursing.
Before he could finish, a fist sent him flying.
Anna's legs gave way. She collapsed, but Adrian caught her.
Blood flowed steadily from the wound. His face darkened as he quickly wrapped his jacket around her.
"Hang on. We're going to the hospital." His voice was low.
Before she could speak, he swept her into his arms.
The movement tugged at her injury, drawing a soft gasp of pain.
"Serves you right." He shot her a glance and strode out.
