Chapter 413

"I'm on a business trip out of town. Is something wrong?"

Anna Ross steadied the swaying figure beside her, her focus entirely on him.

The line went quiet for a moment. Mia Lawrence's voice softened. "Anna, I think Julian went abroad."

She stared at her phone screen. The messages stopped at the one she sent last night, with no reply since. They had been chatting excitedly just the day before, but it all went silent after yesterday evening.

Anna pressed the phone between her shoulder and ear, using both hands to support the sliding man beside her. "Don't worry. I'll help you find out after I finish here."

Adrian Sinclair looked lean, but his weight was substantial as he leaned against her. Anna gritted her teeth, refusing to let him collapse.

Mia was about to agree when she heard a stifled groan from the other end of the line. It sounded off.

"Anna, are you really on a business trip?" Her tone was suspicious.

Anna closed her eyes. Adrian had nearly fallen, and she had instinctively wrapped an arm around his waist. He had let out a low moan.

Of course, Mia heard everything.

When Anna didn't respond, Mia pressed further. "Well, Anna Ross! Telling me you're on a business trip? What are you really up to?"

She never had any men around before. Now there was a man's voice? Highly unusual!

"Iโ€”"

"Anna, are you dating!?"

Anna couldn't get a word in. She sighed helplessly. "No, I'm justโ€”"

"Cold. So cold." Adrian suddenly shivered, his face growing paler.

The sound made Mia even more convinced. She grew excited. "Look at you, full of surprises! When are you bringing him to meet me?"

Anna tried to explain, but Adrian tilted sideways, threatening to fall again. She had to hang up and use both hands to steady him.

Her palm touched his forehead. The scorching heat made her heart clench. How could he have such a high fever!

The elevator finally reached their floor. She struggled to help him out. Their room was on the right side of the hallway, still some distance away.

Anna supported the much taller man, inching forward step by step. From behind, she looked like a tiny hamster dragging food several times her size.

"You..." Adrian forced his eyes open, looking at the small but stubborn figure beside him.

Anna glared at him. "A grown man, getting this sick from a little wind?" She pressed her lips together, muttering under her breath, "And so heavy."

As for what he was about to say? If it was thanks, she'd rather not hear it. It would make her cringe.

Adrian rubbed his temples, his brows furrowed from the throbbing pain. Anna helped him open the door, barely managing to drag him inside.

By the time she got him onto the bed, she was breathless and exhausted, collapsing beside him to catch her breath.

Adrian draped an arm over his eyes, blinking hard to clear his vision. He shouldn't have had that drink at the restaurant. Now his head was splitting.

Anna recovered slightly and got up to search for the first aid kit. She rummaged through every drawer and cabinet but couldn't find a single box of medicine.
