Chapter 190

He stood and moved closer.

His voice was low. "If you insist on your innocence, you should provide evidence to prove it. Empty words won't convince anyone."

Anna Ross looked up abruptly.

Her gaze met his deep, unfathomable eyes.

He stared at her. "Go back and check your computer thoroughly. If someone tampered with it, there will be traces."

Her fingers curled slightly.

Was he actually giving her advice?

It seemed he had already investigated secretly.

Otherwise, he wouldn't be so certain.

This reminder came at the right time.

It gave direction to her chaotic thoughts.

She thought he would use this chance to fire her.

Instead, he chose to believe her.

A faint flutter stirred deep inside her.

She whispered softly, "Thank you."

Thank you for his trust.

And thank you for pointing the way.

"You're really quite foolish," he chuckled under his breath.

The distance was too close.

She heard every word clearly.

Anna wanted to argue.

But she remembered his help.

She swallowed her words.

The next moment.

His arm suddenly wrapped around her waist.

His warm palm pressed against her skin through the thin dress.

Anna's heart raced wildly.

She looked up at him like a startled deer.

The weather was hot.

She had already taken off her jacket.

Only a thin dress remained.

Now she could clearly feel his fingers lingering at her waist.

"You..." She tried to break free.

But he only held her tighter.

Adrian Sinclair cupped her chin with his other hand.

His breath brushed her cheek.

His gaze turned cold. "Stay away from Lucas Evans. Or I can't promise what I might do."

Anna was slightly stunned.

So it was still about Lucas.

Noticing her distraction, he tightened his grip.

He pressed his fingers into her slender waist.

Anna winced in pain and glared at him. "Have you lost your mind?"

But her expression only amused him.

"Just reminding you of your limits," he said with a slight smile. "Remember, you belong to me now."

Anna looked away.

She responded quietly, "I know my place. I won't cross the line."

He was so domineering and controlling.

Sometimes she wondered if he had traveled from ancient times.

"Good," he said, clearly satisfied.

But his hand did not let go.

Anna felt flustered.

Her cheeks burned crimson.

She tried to shy away.

Just as she felt utterly embarrassed, he finally released her.

He raised an eyebrow. "Withdraw from the project. I'll find a replacement."

Adrian sat back in his chair.

He waited calmly for her response.

But Anna hesitated.

She couldn't quit now.

The truth wasn't clear yet.

Leaving would only confirm the suspicion against her.

"The project isn't over yet," she said, lowering her eyes to the documents. "It's not the right time to withdraw."
