Chapter 217
"Aren't you going to the bar tonight?" Adrian Sinclair's gaze swept over her.
Anna Ross replied softly, "I asked for time off when I left the station."
A delicate silence settled inside the car.
Neither spoke again.
The car stopped outside her apartment building.
She was about to thank him.
But she noticed he was staring intently in a certain direction.
She followed his line of sight.
Her breath caught.
Sophia Roscente and Marcus Hill.
They were locked in a tight embrace.
Anna held her breath.
Why did she keep running into them like this.
Adrian's expression was terrifyingly dark.
The sound of a seatbelt unbuckling echoed.
He was about to push the car door open.
His face was cold and frightening.
Instinctively, Anna grabbed his sleeve.
"Don't go down," she whispered, trying to dissuade him.
He truly couldn't tolerate it at all.
His cousin dating someone was like a crime to him.
No wonder Sophia was so afraid of him.
Meeting his icy stare.
Her heart trembled.
But she still held onto him firmly. "Since you agreed to it, why disturb them now?"
He settled back into the driver's seat.
He glanced at the embracing couple downstairs.
His expression softened slightly.
Anna released his sleeve.
She sat quietly.
Better to wait for them to leave before getting out.
After this incident.
She actually felt a bit more at ease.
Adrian was still watching them.
His voice was low. "I never expected them to be together."
"I've always treated her like my own sister."
"Every time I see something like this, it's hard to accept."
Anna remained silent.
The cousin he doted on.
Was taken by his own friend.
Anyone would find it difficult.
A soft sigh came from beside her.
He leaned back into his seat.
He closed his eyes.
Out of sight, out of mind.
But his furrowed brow.
Betrayed his displeasure.
Anna hesitated for a moment.
She spoke softly, "She has to grow up eventually."
"Sooner or later, she will date."
"You can't chase away every boy around her."
Adrian opened his eyes.
He looked at her.
Anna continued, "Compared to a stranger."
"Isn't someone you know well better?"
The corner of his brow twitched slightly.
A hint of a smile appeared in his eyes.
Anna looked down, puzzled.
He spoke in a low voice, "You're right."
"She should walk her own path."
"I can't be with her forever."
