Chapter 108
Adrian Sinclair's voice cut through the air, cold and sharp.
"You were there when Grandpa ran into Anna Ross today?"
Chloe Valentine's heart tightened.
She recalled the old man's words from earlier.
She quickly softened her tone to explain.
"Yes."
"We had just arrived at the company."
"We met at the elevator bank."
"We just exchanged a simple greeting."
Adrian lifted his gaze.
His sharp eyes locked onto her.
"Is that so."
"Did you introduce her to Grandpa?"
Chloe's heart sank.
Grandpa had made it clear he didn't like Anna.
Adrian must suspect she said something.
His presence was overwhelming.
She found it hard to even breathe.
But then she remembered.
She was his fiancรฉe.
The sweet words might smooth things over.
"Adrian."
"It really was a coincidence."
"If you don't believe me, you can ask Noah."
A cold smirk flickered in Adrian's eyes.
He had asked if she had spoken out of turn in front of Grandpa.
Yet she kept avoiding the point.
Only emphasizing the chance meeting.
He saw right through her little game.
Watching her nervousness, Adrian suddenly curved his lips.
"No need to be so tense."
"I was just asking casually."
His demeanor was too relaxed.
Chloe felt a sense of controlled fear.
But as long as he didn't expose her, there was still room to maneuver.
She forced a sweet smile.
"I just like you too much."
"That's why I get nervous around you."
"They say it's a sign a girl is really smitten."
She walked to his desk.
Deliberately leaning forward.
Her V-neck dress was already low-cut.
The movement left little to the imagination.
Her voice grew even more delicate.
"Adrian."
"Don't you think I'm right?"
Adrian indifferently looked away.
His tone flat.
"She and I only have a professional relationship."
"Nothing more."
"I hope you can understand."
He stood and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.
Turning his back to her.
He had dismissed the topic so lightly.
Chloe felt stifled.
But she could only play the understanding role.
"I know."
Understand?
His emphasis was clearly meant to protect Anna.
She wasn't a fool.
How could she not see it.
Adrian messaged for Anna Ross.
He gave instructions right in front of Chloe.
"Your new workstation."
"Will be right outside my office."
Anna sensed the subtly atmosphere.
But she didn't dare ask questions.
She immediately agreed.
"Understood, Mr. Sinclair."
She just wanted to obey quietly.
To avoid angering him.
Hearing this arrangement, Chloe's blood boiled.
He was placing her right outside his office.
So close to him.
While she was sent to the distant Creative Department.
Why?
She glared at Anna with resentment.
But as long as Anna remained in the company.
She would have plenty of chances to reclaim that position.
She walked up to Anna.
Extending her hand with a sweet smile.
"Executive Assistant Ross."
"From now on, we must work hard together."
"And share Adrian's burdens properly."
