Chapter 145
Anna Ross stepped onto the stage, the spotlight illuminating her face.
Cheers erupted from the audience in waves.
She took a deep breath, pushing aside distracting thoughts.
In the crowd, Lucas Evans held a bouquet, his gaze following her tenderly.
He lowered his head to adjust the flowers, a smile playing on his lips.
This bouquet was carefully selected, each bloom perfectly open.
Anna's clear, moving voice filled The Royal Lounge.
As her performance ended, she gave a slight bow and prepared to exit.
Lucas suddenly walked toward the stage with the flowers.
The bar fell silent instantly.
Every eye focused on them.
Anna froze, watching Lucas approach step by step.
"For you." Lucas extended the bouquet. "You sang beautifully."
Anna opened her mouth but no sound came out.
The audience began cheering, applause and whistles rising around them.
"Everyone's watching," Lucas murmured. "Save face for me."
Anna finally accepted the bouquet with a quiet "Thank you."
The bouquet felt heavy in her unsteady hands.
Lucas beamed, eyes brightened with joy.
Just then, Mia Lawrence arrived at the bar.
Her eyes widened in disbelief at the scene.
"Anna Ross!" she gasped involuntarily.
Anna's cheeks burned as she quickly pulled Lucas offstage.
The three moved backstage with Mia following closely.
"When did you two get together?" Mia asked bluntly.
Anna wished the ground would swallow her.
"Don't say nonsense," she whispered urgently.
Lucas simply smiled without explanation.
Anna hastily introduced them.
Mia studied Lucas while shaking his hand.
"Let me treat you to dinner," Lucas suggested.
Mia cheered immediately. "Perfect! I'm starving."
Anna followed them out of the bar helplessly.
At the restaurant, Mia chattered endlessly about office gossip.
Lucas listened quietly, smiling occasionally.
Anna picked at her food, her mind wandering elsewhere.
After dinner, Lucas insisted on driving them home.
In the car, Mia continued her excited chatter.
Anna gazed out the window, fingers unconsciously tracing the petals.
Night deepened as streetlights streamed past the window.
