Chapter 298
Howard Lowell spat on the ground with venom.
He directed all his hatred toward Adrian Sinclair.
If not for this outsider meddling, he should be the one in control of the Lowell empire now.
He looked up at the towering corporate skyscraper.
A cold smile twisted his lips.
Soon, all of this would fall into his grasp.
The company was buzzing with rumors.
Everyone was talking about the chairman's only son taking a sudden position.
Chloe Valentine heard the news.
She had never met Howard Lowell.
But since he was Lowell blood, winning his support could secure her marriage to Adrian Sinclair.
......
Anna Ross had just returned to her desk after delivering documents.
Before she could sit down, Howard called.
After hanging up, she leaned against her desk, frowning.
He just joined the company and already demanded a meeting.
Was he making his move so soon?
She hesitated for a long time, remaining seated.
Another call came, urging her to come.
Anna had no choice but to go.
Howard slammed a stack of files in front of her.
He was so angry he could barely speak.
"What is he thinking? Assigning me some petty little role like this!"
Anna stepped back, startled by his rage.
She opened the file and saw the words "Team Leader."
Now she understood his fury.
It seemed Adrian had taken precautions.
"Perhaps this was Grandpa's decision?" She glanced at the file and placed it back on the desk.
Howard was leaning painfully against the window frame.
Her words made him pause.
He muttered to himself, "Right. Why didn't I think of that?"
Since the branch company incident, the old man's trust in him had plummeted.
Even though he was allowed into headquarters, a high position was unlikely.
Anna continued, "I've been watching Adrian. He had no time to interfere with these arrangements."
She wasn't sure of the truth.
But at least Howard's threat to Adrian was temporarily reduced.
Howard straightened up.
He stared out the window, lost in thought.
Suddenly, he smirked.
"You're right. In that case, I'll endure it for now."
The Lowell empire would belong to him eventually.
Anna didn't want to stay any longer.
She turned to leave.
Howard quickly blocked her path.
He grinned triumphantly.
"You did well this time. Keep a close eye on him."
"Don't let him marry Miss Valentine."
"Remember, it's best if he becomes completely devoted to you."
He grew more excited, as if his grand plans were within reach.
Anna suppressed her disgust.
She didn't respond and walked away.
After work, she went to her usual job at the bar.
Business had been exceptionally busy lately.
Her popularity had soared, gaining a large fan base.
Some even affectionately called her "Diva."
Anna gradually realized that only on stage could she forget all her troubles.
This job brought her more joy than she expected.
"Anna, can you work overtime tonight?"
Just as she was about to leave, the owner stopped her with an apologetic look.
"An important client came specifically to hear you sing."
"Could you perform two more songs?"
