Chapter 133

"Stop."

Anna Ross was about to turn around when Adrian Sinclair's icy voice cut through the air.

His expression was dark, a chilling aura radiating from him that seemed to freeze the very atmosphere.

The three of them stood frozen in the living room.

Under the harsh lighting, the atmosphere was suffocatingly tense.

Adrian suddenly grabbed Sophia Roscente's wrist.

His narrow eyes swept toward Anna. "Come back with me." His tone brooked no argument, heavy with oppressive authority.

He began pulling Sophia toward the door.

Sophia panicked, frantically clutching at Anna's clothes, her eyes welling with tears. "Sis, please help me. I don't want to go with himโ€ฆ"

She looked like a frightened fawn, utterly pitiful.

Anna's heart softened, remembering Sophia's previous pleas.

She spoke with difficulty. "Mr. Sinclair, please give her another chance. Sophia knows she was wrong. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is learning from them."

"Cousin, I promise I won't do it again!" Sophia nodded vigorously, her fingers gripping Anna tightly.

Adrian's gaze swept over Anna, the sharpness in his eyes softening slightly.

He was silent for a moment before releasing Sophia. His tone remained cold. "You can keep staying here. But don't cause any more trouble. Otherwise, I will personally send you back."

His menacing aura hadn't dissipated. His thin lips were pressed into a tight line, making it hard to look directly at him.

He glanced at Anna, worried her soft heart would be too lenient, unable to keep Sophia in check.

"Cousin, I swear I won't do it again!" Sophia assured him repeatedly, not forgetting to pull Anna in as a witness.

Adrian's gaze fixed on Anna.

Anna's heart raced. She steeled herself and spoke. "We should offer more trust. I will keep an eye on her."

After speaking, she bit her lower lip, annoyed at her own flustered state around him.

Adrian didn't press further. He just gave Sophia a warning look and turned to leave. "Remember your promise."

Sophia breathed a sigh of relief and stuck her tongue out at his retreating back.

Suddenly, Adrian turned around.

She yelped in fright and immediately retreated into her room.

"You. Walk me downstairs."

"What?"

Anna looked around. She was the only one left.

He wanted her to walk him down? The hallway was brightly lit. What was there to be afraid of?

Though confused, she silently followed.

The night was deep, the surroundings quiet. Only their footsteps echoed.

Anna followed half a step behind him, looking up at his broad back.

It looked inexplicably reassuringโ€ฆ
