Chapter 110

Anna Ross quickly straightened her posture.

It was already after work hours.

Why couldn't she leave?

She cleared her throat and asked softly, "Um... when can I clock out?"

Adrian Sinclair noticed every little movement she made.

Weren't you quite bold when complaining about me earlier?

Now you're scared?

"You can leave now," he said indifferently.

He then turned and entered his office.

He didn't spare her another glance.

Anna stood frozen in place.

He was being unusually agreeable today?

She quickly remembered.

He was taking Chloe Valentine to see Grandpa later.

She, an outsider, naturally had no reason to tag along.

A strange pang of pain shot through her heart.

But being able to leave work was always good.

She quickly packed her things and left the company.

She took a taxi to where Mia Lawrence worked.

Mia had continued working in real estate sales after moving to New York.

She heard the pay was better here than in San Francisco.

Plus, she was about to get a promotion soon.

Anna stood outside the real estate office and made a call.

"Mia, I'm downstairs at your company."

"Are you off work yet?"

Mia ran out excitedly.

Anna smiled. "I'm in a good mood today."

"How about I treat you to dinner?"

"Great!" Mia linked arms with her.

"I'm starving!"

After they finished eating.

Mia suddenly remembered something.

"Anna, about that job you asked me to keep an eye out for."

"I found a few pretty good ones."

"Want to go check them out now?"

Anna nodded immediately.

"Let's go now."

She hadn't expected her friend to be so efficient.

They arrived at a bar called Moonlight Lounge.

Anna hesitated slightly.

But for the sake of earning money, she went in.

The music inside the bar was deafening.

The owner happened to be at the front desk.

His eyes lit up when he saw two pretty girls.

"Here to have fun or looking for work?"

Anna mustered her courage and spoke up.

"I'm here for a part-time job."

Mia added.

"We contacted earlier about the drink promotion position."

The owner instantly got excited.

"Of course!"

He clapped his hands.

Someone brought over a bunny girl costume.

Anna and Mia's eyes widened.

They grabbed each other's hands and ran out.

They only stopped after running quite a distance.

Catching her breath, Anna shook her head.

"I really can't do this one."

Mia was also still shaken.

"Let's look at some others."

They checked out a few more places.

None of them satisfied Anna.

"This is the last one."

Mia pointed at the bar in front of them.

"They need a resident singer here."

"You won awards for singing in college."

Anna smiled bitterly.

She did love singing.

She once dreamed of becoming a singer.

But because of her mother, she couldn't continue her studies.
