Chapter 186

Chloe Valentine watched his expression change without a trace of emotion, a flicker of triumph in her heart.

The earlier confrontation had clarified the situation for her.

Lucas Evans clearly had ulterior motives toward Anna Ross.

As long as Lucas continued to pursue Anna, she would have no opportunity to approach her fiancรฉ.

Speaking up for Lucas earlier had been a brilliant move.

This game was becoming more interesting by the minute.

"You may leave." Adrian Sinclair did not look at her, his voice cold as ice.

He treated her as if she were an insignificant object.

Chloe's heart ached, but she suppressed her anger.

Maintaining control was key.

Removing Anna was only a matter of time.

"Adrian, I'll get back to work then. Call me if you need anything." She adopted a thoughtful and understanding demeanor, her gaze lingering on him with reluctance.

Soon, he would belong entirely to her.

Adrian merely acknowledged with a faint sound, not lifting his head.

Chloe turned away unwillingly, the two others following closely behind.

No one in the company dared to defy the CEO.

A single glance from him could send chills down anyone's spine.

Adrian sat alone for a moment, his brow furrowed.

He stood and returned to his office.

As soon as he sat down, he dialed the internal line.

"Noah, come to my office."

After hanging up, he tossed his phone onto the desk.

He picked up his coffee and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.

He took a sip before setting it down again.

Gazing down at the bustling crowd below, he narrowed his eyes.

He refused to believe she would do such a thing.

If someone had set her up, he would find out who.

Daring to play games right under his nose took some nerve.

A knock sounded at the door.

Noah Watson entered quickly.

"Mr. Sinclair, what do you need?"

Adrian turned and sat back in his executive chair, his expression serious.

"Investigate the company's data breach."

"Understood." Noah accepted the order immediately.

Adrian waved him away.

Noah bowed slightly and left.

Passing Anna's empty workstation, he couldn't help but glance at it.

Anna sat at her desk, restless and distracted.

She knew she had been framed.

The mastermind behind it was obvious.

But where should she start investigating?

What troubled her more was that the client for this project was Lucas Evans.

They would have to see each other frequently from now on.

How should she handle that?
