Chapter 69

"It's alright, I don't mind."

Sophia Roscente blinked her round eyes, her smile sweet.

"Having him by my side now is enough."

Anna Ross sighed quietly.

Such a bright girl, yet she had to meet Adrian Sinclair.

She said no more, lowering her head to take a sip of water.

Sophia suddenly leaned in, asking playfully.

"What about you?"

"You and Adrian... it doesn't seem like a normal boss-employee relationship."

"Do you like him?"

Anna choked violently, coughing uncontrollably.

Sophia quickly patted her back.

It took a moment for Anna to recover, murmuring her thanks.

She set down her glass, her tone light.

"I'm just his Executive Assistant."

"Beyond that, there's nothing between us."

"Please don't joke about such things, Miss Roscente."

A bitter feeling stirred in her heart.

Why did it still affect her when it was already over?

Sophia tilted her head, her eyes sly.

She didn't believe these two had no connection.

"But the way he looks at you is clearly differentโ€”"

"Sophia Roscente!"

A cold male voice cut her off abruptly.

Adrian Sinclair stood by the table, his gaze sharp as a blade.

Sophia immediately looked down, pretending to focus on her meal.

Adrian's eyes fell on Anna.

"You can clock out now."

His voice was icy. "Stop being an eyesore here."

He sat down directly, the atmosphere instantly tense.

Anna gripped her bag strap tightly, standing up to leave.

Her departure was swift, without a hint of reluctance.

Sophia watched her go, sighing inwardly.

What on earth did her cousin do...

To make that girl avoid him so quickly?

She picked up a piece of meat, trying to lighten the mood.

Adrian shot her a cold look. "She's gone. No need to act."

Sophia huffily put the meat back, muttering.

"So ungrateful!"
