Chapter 319
Anna Ross finished her last song.
Her gaze drifted to the seat where the mysterious man usually sat.
But the seat was already empty.
Only a thick stack of cash remained.
She collected the money.
The cold touch of the bills brushed her fingertips.
Suspicion grew heavier in her heart.
She tossed and turned all night.
In her dreams, a dark shadow chased her relentlessly.
It forced her to the edge of a cliff.
A pair of icy hands suddenly pushed her into the abyss.
Anna woke up in a cold sweat.
Morning light filtered through the gaps in the curtains.
She clutched her pounding chest.
Only after confirming she was safe did she slowly breathe.
Seven o'clock sharp.
She arrived at the company early.
Noah Watson placed a stack of files on her desk.
"Mr. Sinclair is not in today."
"Just organize these documents simply."
Anna took the files.
Her eyes unconsciously drifted toward the closed general manager's office.
Her phone screen suddenly lit up.
Julian Garnache's call flashed urgently.
She answered and heard his anxious voice.
"Anna, Mia is missing!"
Anna shot to her feet.
Files scattered across the floor.
"Since when?"
"She's been unreachable since yesterday."
"We were supposed to watch a movie together, but she never showed."
"Her phone is off this morning."
Anna hung up immediately.
She quickly dialed Mia Lawrence's number.
The cold tone of a powered-off phone echoed in her ear.
She grabbed her bag and rushed out of the company.
The taxi sped through the streets.
Her nails dug deeply into her palms.
Mia had no relatives in this city.
If something happened, no one would be there for her.
Arriving at the real estate sales center.
The front desk was crowded with consulting clients.
Anna scanned the entire hall.
But she never saw that familiar figure.
"Looking for a property?"
A salesperson in a suit approached.
He held property brochures in his hand.
Anna waved hurriedly.
"I'm looking for Mia Lawrence."
"Did she come to work today?"
The salesperson paused.
"She asked for leave three days ago."
Leave?
Anna's heart sank.
She didn't even tell me about taking leave.
Could she really be upset over relationship issues?
She turned and ran out the glass door.
She bumped into Julian Garnache, who had rushed over.
He had jumped out of his car without even closing the window.
"Anna! Mia, she..."
"She seemed very off last time at the restaurant."
They exchanged a look.
Both rushed toward the parking lot elevator.
