Chapter 320

Anna Ross's gaze darkened slightly.

She shook her head gently.

"It's nothing."

She went straight upstairs to find her best friend's apartment.

Standing before the door, she raised her hand to knock.

No one answered.

"Mia, are you home?" Anna called out, raising her voice.

The room remained silent.

Anxiety and worry instantly gripped her heart.

She dialed the phone again.

No one picked up on the other end.

Julian Garnache followed her up and saw her crouched by the wall.

His heart ached as he helped her up, brushing the dust from her clothes.

"Anna, are you keeping something from me?"

Anna bit her lip and looked up.

"Julian, do you have a girlfriend?"

She paused.

"Or someone you like?"

Julian frowned, his face filled with confusion.

"Why are you suddenly asking this, Anna?"

"Actually, Miaโ€”"

A phone ringtone cut through the air abruptly.

Seeing the caller ID, Anna nearly jumped.

She answered the call immediately.

"Mia, where are you?" Her voice choked with emotion.

"I couldn't find you at the company or at home!"

Julian took a step closer, trying to hear the conversation.

Mia Lawrence's cheerful voice came through.

"Don't worry, Anna. I had some family matters to attend to in San Francisco."

She said lightly, "I'm already on my way back to New York."

Both of them breathed a sigh of relief at the same time.

Anna headed downstairs while asking, "Where are you now? I'll come pick you up."

Before she finished speaking, they met at the staircase landing.

"Mia, you scared me to death!" Anna rushed over and hugged her tightly.

Mia was knocked back a step, quickly grabbing the handrail.

"Are you trying to push me down the stairs?"

She felt the trembling in her arms.

Anna's shoulders shook slightly, her tears soaking Mia's clothes.

"I was going crazy with worry on my way here."

Her voice was choked with sobs.

"You have to tell me in advance if something comes up. I'll worry about you."

Mia was stunned, whispering an apology.

"I'm sorry, Anna. It won't happen again."

She looked up and saw Julian coming down the stairs.

The smile on her face gradually faded.

Julian noticed her coldness.

He hesitated, then offered a smile.

"Mia."

Mia only gave a polite nod.

"Sorry for making you worry."

She took Anna's hand and turned to go upstairs.

As she passed Julian, she acted as if she didn't see him.

Meanwhile, at Sinclair Group.

Chloe Valentine walked to Anna's workstation.

She found the seat empty.

After waiting for a moment, she went straight to the surveillance room.

When she pulled up the surveillance footage, a triumphant smile curled her lips.

Anna had indeed left her post during work hours.

This violated Sinclair Group's strict regulations.

A cold glint flashed in Chloe's eyes.

Anna Ross, you won't escape this time.
