Chapter 436

Lucas Evans let out a cold laugh, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Aren't you Adrian Sinclair's fiancรฉe?"

"It wouldn't end well if he found out you're cozying up to another man behind his back."

His gaze swept over her.

Chloe Valentine instinctively looked toward Adrian.

But his attention was completely fixed on Anna Ross. He hadn't even noticed who she was talking to.

This fueled her hatred even more.

Anna Ross was like a siren, luring men's souls away.

"Adrian wouldn't mind. He loves spoiling me and gives me absolute freedom."

"Most importantly, he never loses his temper with me."

Chloe gently set down her glass and elegantly tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear.

Lucas scoffed loudly. "But what I've heard tells a different story."

"It seems Adrian Sinclair doesn't really care about you at all."

Chloe froze instantly, her face turning ashen.

Lucas took a pleased sip of his drink. "Miss Valentine, instead of wasting time with me, you should focus more on keeping an eye on your man."

"Otherwise, the day someone steals him away, you'll be crying too late."

He swirled his glass and downed the contents in one go.

Chloe stared blankly at the man before her.

This Lucas Evans was usually gentle and refined, but now he seemed unfathomable.

She set her glass down and remained silent for a moment before speaking. "Mr. Evans, why do you harbor such hostility toward me?"

She couldn't recall ever offending him, yet his words were laced with barbs, clearly showing his dislike.

Lucas lazily turned his head, his eyes filled with disdain. "Do you really think I don't know about all those things you did to Anna?"

"I'm only holding back for her sake."

Those things!?

Chloe's heart shuddered. How could he possibly know?

Unless that bitch Anna Ross told him!

"Mr. Evans, how could I ever harm her? I've always considered her a good friend. Your words are too hurtful."

She forced a smile.

Lucas suddenly stood up, giving her a cold glance. "I wouldn't say such things if I didn't know."

"You better behave. Otherwise, don't blame me for being impolite."

Chloe stood frozen in place, watching his retreating back in disbelief.

How ridiculous. He actually dared to threaten her?

But she would not obey.

As long as Anna Ross dared to cling to Adrian, she had a hundred ways to get rid of her.

Just then, Anna finished her song and stepped off the stage.

Chloe hurried back to Adrian's side, afraid he would go looking for that bitch if she let her guard down for even a second.

Adrian glanced at the time and frowned slightly. "You were gone for over half an hour?"

Chloe suppressed the panic in her heart and offered a sweet smile. "My mother called. We talked for a while."
