Chapter 376

Anna Ross steadied herself.

She continued down the stairs.

A faint sound came from behind her.

She turned instinctively.

A damp cloth clamped over her mouth and nose.

A pungent chemical smell invaded her nostrils.

Anna struggled fiercely.

No sound escaped her throat.

"Move again, and this knife will draw blood." A cold blade pressed against her neck.

It stung slightly.

She froze instantly.

The man dragged her back into the hallway.

They stopped at her apartment door.

"Open it." His voice was a low, threatening rasp.

Anna fumbled for her keys.

Her fingers brushed against her phone.

Maybe she could find a chance to call for help.

"No tricks." The man snatched her phone away.

He shoved the keys into her hand. "Open it. Now."

The knife tip pressed harder.

Anna gritted her teeth.

She took the keys.

She deliberately fumbled with the lock.

She needed to buy time.

The man lost patience.

He grabbed the keys and jammed them into the lock.

The lock turned with a sharp click.

Anna gripped the doorframe tightly.

She tried to scream for help.

The man covered her mouth forcefully.

He shoved her into the apartment.

The door slammed shut behind them.

"Scared?" A cold laugh hissed near her ear. "This is just the beginning."

Anna suddenly froze.

The voice sounded strangely familiar.

She tried to look up at him.

But a mask and a low cap hid his face completely.

The man dragged her roughly further inside.

"You think you're so high and mighty?" His laugh twisted. "Tonight, you'll learn what it feels like to be trampled."

Anna glanced at the mirror on the wall.

Her pupils contracted sharply.

This wasn't a robbery.
