Chapter 397
Mia Lawrence widened her eyes, poking Anna Ross's shoulder in frustration.
"You're hurt this badly and still hiding it from me?"
"Tell me, how did this happen?"
Anna sighed softly, pulling her into the living room.
"It really doesn't hurt anymore. Please stop asking."
They sank into the sofa, snack bags rustling.
Mia glanced around the room and suddenly made a surprised sound.
"Where's your little cousin?"
"Last time I visited, it was quite lively here."
Anna tore open a bread wrapper, her gaze sweeping across the TV screen.
"She went back to her mom's place. She hasn't been back these past few days."
Mia nodded vaguely while chewing on potato chips.
She suddenly put down her snack, her expression darkening.
"This time when I came back... my parents had a huge fight."
"It was really bad."
She always escaped to San Francisco, partly to avoid blind dates, partly to escape the arguments.
Anna's hand holding the remote paused.
"Try to talk some sense into them."
She didn't continue.
She hadn't even met her own father. What could she say?
Mia slumped back into the cushions, waving a hand.
"Can't be bothered. Talking more just makes it worse."
She suddenly turned over, her eyes lighting up.
"Oh right! Anna, you have to help me!"
Anna blinked in confusion.
"Help with what?"
Mia leaned close to her ear, lowering her voice to a whisper.
โ
At the same moment, strobe lights flashed wildly in the photography studio.
Sophia Roscente struck a pose, then suddenly sneezed twice in a row.
The instant she rubbed her nose, Marcus Hill snapped a picture with a mischievous grin.
"Haha, Sophia, look at this!"
He held up his phone, shaking with laughter.
Sophia snatched the phone and instantly bristled.
"What kind of awful photo is this!"
The picture showed her scrunching her face while rubbing her nose, looking ridiculously ugly.
Marcus dodged her punches, grinning as he protected his phone.
"It's adorable. I'm setting it as my wallpaper to look at every day."
"You wouldn't dare!" Sophia lunged to grab the phone.
"I sent you so many beautiful photos, and you choose to use this one instead!"
"Delete it! Now! Immediately!"
