Chapter 207
"Anna, if there's nothing else, I'll head back to work now." Chloe Lombardi smiled innocently, appearing like nothing more than a naive newcomer.
Anna Ross snapped out of her thoughts and thanked her once more.
As Chloe dragged her chair away, Anna noticed how her bent posture perfectly matched the figure in the surveillance footage.
A thought struck her. She decided to verify the evidence before reporting. She hurried to the security room, captured the crucial footage, and went straight to the CEO's office.
Adrian Sinclair had just finished a meeting. A flicker of surprise crossed his eyes when he saw her.
Anna immediately stated her purpose. "I have important information to report."
Adrian's gaze shifted slightly. He pushed the office door open. "Come in."
He casually took off his suit jacket and draped it over the chair back. Then he slowly rolled up his shirt sleeves.
When she remained silent, he raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you have something to say?"
Anna slid her phone across the desk toward him. "There's progress on the data breach. The new colleague in our department todayโher silhouette is an exact match to the person in the surveillance footage."
She was about to add more details when Adrian already activated the intercom. He ordered Noah Watson to bring the person in immediately.
Anna was slightly surprised by his decisiveness.
Soon, Chloe was brought into the office. She swallowed nervously, her voice trembling. "Mr. Sinclair, you wanted to see me?"
Adrian tossed the phone in front of her. "Look for yourself. Is that you?"
Chloe's face instantly turned pale. Fine beads of sweat formed on her forehead.
Anna pointed to the surveillance image. "Even though you hid your face, your hair color gave you away. You're the only one in the entire office with dyed hair."
She added, "Your walking posture and the way you bend over are identical to the person in the footage."
Chloe's head snapped up. "You were testing me?"
Anna remained silent.
After a long pause, Chloe slumped in defeat. "I did it. Fire me."
Adrian's eyes turned icy cold. "As you wish. You won't find a place for yourself in New York ever again."
Chloe bit her lower lip hard, her lips turning white.
Anna pressed further. "Who put you up to this?"
"No one put me up to it." Chloe turned her face away. "Lucas's company rejected my application. Is it so strange that I wanted revenge?"
Anna frowned. This excuse was clearly prepared in advance.
