Chapter 291

Julian Garnache watched the figure disappear around the street corner.

He took out his phone and dialed a number.

Anna Ross had just finished verifying the final report.

Her phone vibrated on the desk.

She glanced at the caller ID and answered.

"Julian?"

She saved the report and stood up to get water.

Julian Garnache stood outside the Starbucks.

His voice was low. "Anna, be more careful from now on."

"Especially with those around you."

Anna set down her water glass.

"Why bring this up suddenly?"

She walked to the window. "I'm doing fine."

Julian gazed at the traffic.

"Always be cautious."

His tone was grave. "You never know where danger might hide."

Anna was about to speak.

The sound of high heels clicking against the floor echoed from the hallway.

Clear and urgent.

"I have to go."

She ended the call and looked toward the approaching figure.

Chloe Valentine approached in her stilettos.

She lifted her chin. "Where is Adrian?"

Anna averted her gaze.

"He's in a meeting."

Chloe let out a light laugh.

"No lingering trauma from last time, I hope?"

She deliberately lowered her voice. "That man had a prior record."

Anna's fingers tightened.

So that incident was premeditated.

Chloe feigned regret.

"It's my fault for forgetting to warn you."

She took a step closer. "I'm truly sorry."

Anna responded coldly.

"No need for your concern, Miss Valentine."

She turned to leave.

Chloe suddenly noticed a figure in the distance.

She grabbed Anna's wrist and threw herself to the floor.

"Executive Assistant Ross, why did you push me?"

Her voice trembled with fake tears. "I just wanted to apologize..."

Anna stood frozen.

She hadn't even touched her.

Adrian Sinclair approached quickly.

Chloe immediately began sobbing. "Adrian, don't blame Executive Assistant Ross..."

She struggled to stand, pretending to be in great pain.

Several executives emerged from the conference room.

Chloe secretly smiled.

She leaned against Adrian's shoulder.

"It's all my fault..."

Her voice was weak and full of false grievance.
