Chapter 360
Whispers rose around them.
Each word pierced her ears like a needle.
Anna Ross's fingers clenched until they turned white.
She gripped the nearby railing to steady herself.
"Say that again?" Her voice trembled almost imperceptibly.
The middle-aged woman snorted with contempt.
She deliberately raised her voice. "I said you were raised without a mother!"
"Where are your manners? Isn't that the truth?"
Anna's hand shot up.
The wind from her slap brushed the woman's cheek.
But it stopped just short of making contact.
The woman flinched in surprise.
Then a smug expression spread across her face. "Too scared to hit me?"
"Go on, do it!"
A sharp slap echoed through the carriage.
Everyone froze.
Anna stared blankly at Lucas Evans, who had suddenly appeared.
The woman clutched her cheek and shrieked. "How dare you hit me!"
Lucas stepped in front of Anna, shielding her.
His gaze was cold as ice. "Hitting you would dirty my hand."
"But someone like you deserves to be taught a lesson."
The woman immediately began wailing. "Someone judge this fairly!"
"They bumped into me and then hit me!"
The crowd around them stirred into agitation.
Anna tugged at Lucas's sleeve. "I'm sorry..."
"I've dragged you into this."
Lucas shook his head gently. "She is the one at fault."
"Not you."
The woman opened her mouth to retort.
Hurried footsteps approached from a distance.
An assistant pushed through the crowd, holding a tablet.
Lucas took the tablet.
The screen lit up.
A collective gasp rippled through the surrounding crowd.
The video clearly recorded everything.
The truth was revealed.
The crowd's allegiance instantly shifted.
The woman's face turned deathly pale.
She fled in panic under a barrage of accusations.
