Chapter 127
Anna Ross quickly walked out of the office and returned to her desk.
She glanced back.
The office door remained tightly shut.
He hadn't followed her out.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
This was the company.
He probably wouldn't do anything reckless.
She felt reassured.
But his words sat like a heavy stone in her heart.
It was deeply uncomfortable.
Anna picked up her phone.
Sophia Roscente hadn't called back.
There were no messages either.
She began to worry.
She decided to go find her after work.
Adrian Sinclair never came out.
Maybe he felt awkward too.
She shook her head.
Focusing on her work.
When her back and waist ached from sitting.
She glanced at the time.
It was already time to leave.
She looked toward the office door.
Hesitated for a moment.
Still, she didn't knock.
Her phone suddenly vibrated.
It startled her.
It was the bar owner.
She hesitated before answering.
The owner's excited voice came through.
"Miss Ross, can you come in early today?"
Anna was confused.
"I thought we agreed on a fixed schedule?"
The owner laughed.
"You're just too popular."
"Customers are already here waiting for you."
"I had no choice but to call you."
Anna was her cash cow.
The bar was packed every night.
Money was practically rolling in.
She had struck gold.
Anna thought about it.
Going early might be fine.
She had nothing else to do anyway.
Earning a little extra money wouldn't hurt.
She agreed softly.
"Alright, I'll finish up here and come over."
The owner promised excitedly.
"Don't worry, work hard and I'll treat you right."
"Just remember to be on time."
After hanging up.
She still didn't dare to leave.
Even though Adrian hadn't said anything.
She felt she needed to tell him.
She waited for a long time.
No one came out of the office.
She didn't want to go in herself.
Just then, Noah Watson walked over carrying some documents.
Anna smiled and waved.
Noah asked.
"Is there something you need, Executive Assistant Ross?"
She spoke guiltily.
"Is Mr. Sinclair still in his office?"
Noah looked at her curiously.
"Mr. Sinclair left a long time ago."
"You didn't know?"
She sat right outside the office.
It was a bit strange she didn't know.
Anna was stunned.
She had been sitting here the whole time.
She didn't know when he had left.
Maybe he left while she was in the restroom.
Noah continued.
"If you need something, Executive Assistant Ross, you can tell me first."
