Chapter 500
Anna Ross's heart tightened.
She immediately grabbed Mia Lawrence's hand.
Her gaze anxiously scanned the other girl's entire body.
"Are you hurt?"
Mia's eyes instantly reddened.
She hugged Anna tightly.
Her voice was choked with emotion.
"Anna... You're injured this badly yourself."
"Yet you're only worried about me."
Anna gently patted her back.
A faint curve touched the corner of her mouth.
"It's really nothing."
"It doesn't hurt anymore."
Julian Garnache silently handed them two glasses of warm water.
Cold fury still simmered in the depths of his eyes.
"Men have been sent to catch those guys."
"They won't get away."
He was always calm and controlled.
But last night, he lost control.
The moment he saw Anna being pushed down.
Rage burned through his reason.
His fists moved faster than his thoughts.
Anna took the glass.
Her fingertips trembled slightly.
The chaos of last night still swirled in her mind.
The hospital room door suddenly swung open.
Noah Watson rushed in, breathless.
His eyes immediately landed on the bandage on Anna's head.
His face instantly paled.
"How bad is it?"
Anna shook her head.
"What are you doing here?"
He should have been at the company at this hour.
Noah took a deep breath.
His gaze swept over the three people in the room.
His tone became hesitant.
"Mr. Sinclair contacted me just now."
"I was about to call and tell you."
"I heard you were in the hospital..."
He paused.
His brow furrowed tightly.
"What exactly happened?"
Anna's fingertips clenched sharply.
The water in her glass swayed gently.
She lifted her eyes.
Her voice was very soft.
"Where is he?"
Noah avoided her gaze.
His Adam's apple bobbed.
"Mr. Sinclair only sent a message."
"He told me to keep a close watch on the company."
"And also..."
"And what else?" Anna pressed.
Noah was silent for a long time.
Finally, he spoke with difficulty.
"He might... not be coming back."
The room fell abruptly silent.
Mia gasped in shock.
"What do you mean, not coming back?"
Anna tried to sit up.
But a sharp pain in her head made her gasp.
"Why?"
Her voice trembled.
"Where did he go?"
Noah just shook his head.
His eyes were full of complexity.
Mia suddenly understood.
"Is it because he misunderstood you?"
"Does he feel too ashamed to face you?"
Anna stood frozen in place.
Her heart felt as if gripped by an invisible hand.
Those past events were long over.
Why was he still holding onto them?
Noah spoke in a low, comforting tone.
"Ms. Ross, focus on recovering first."
"When Mr. Sinclair figures things out."
"He will naturally return."
Anna forced a smile.
Her nails dug deeply into her palms.
"Okay."
But her mind was in turmoil.
Where on earth could he have gone?
The sunlight outside the window was faint.
Not like the overcast rain of the past few days.
The light, though weak, was bright enough.
It dispelled the oppression of the previous days.
Anna suddenly lifted her head.
A faint glimmer flashed in her eyes.
She remembered a place.
