Mia Lawrence beamed when Anna Ross nodded in agreement.
She threw her arms around Anna in a tight embrace.
"Anna, I knew you'd do this for me!"
Anna smiled helplessly.
She had agreed to help, but what was she supposed to do now?
She had no idea where to even begin.
"Wait, let me send you the blind date location first."
Mia quickly pulled out her phone.
"I have an emergency at work. I need to go."
She grabbed her bag and rushed toward the door.
Anna opened her mouth to speak.
Mia suddenly turned and blew her a kiss.
"Love you, babe!"
The door slammed shut.
The room fell into silence.
Anna looked down at the address on her phone.
She couldn't help but laugh bitterly.
"My first blind date is for someone else."
She shook her head and began tidying the room.
Evening arrived.
Anna applied light makeup.
She chose a casual dress.
Her long hair was loosely tied up.
It revealed her slender, pale neck.
The reflection showed bright eyes and white teeth.
Her gaze carried a natural charm.
She took a deep breath.
She had already devised a strategy.
She would reject him directly upon meeting.
After all, her friend hadn't intended to actually date.
The restaurant was located on a quiet street off the main road.
Its Italian-style decor was elegant and unique.
Plane tree shadows danced gracefully outside.
Anna checked the address and pushed the door open.
Warm, soft yellow light spilled down.
Soothing music flowed through the air.
Her tense nerves gradually relaxed.
A waiter approached with a smile.
"Good evening, ma'am. Do you have a reservation?"
Anna showed her phone with the reservation details.
The waiter checked carefully and nodded.
"Please follow me."
The reserved seat was still empty.
Her blind date hadn't arrived yet.
Anna had no choice but to wait patiently.
Her drink was almost finished when a figure approached.
Anna looked up and froze.
"Lucas?"
Why was it him?
Lucas Evans's gloomy expression suddenly brightened.
He looked at Anna with surprise.
"What are you doing here?"
He hadn't expected to see her.
A smile spread in his eyes.
But confusion was more evident.
Anna pressed her lips together awkwardly.
"I'm here for my friend's blind date."
Lucas understood immediately.
He thoughtfully refilled her drink.
"It seems your friend was forced into this too."
Anna couldn't help but laugh.
"You two are in the same boat!"
They smiled at each other.
The atmosphere became light and cheerful.
Adrian Sinclair was in an extremely foul mood.
Images of Anna's defiance replayed in his mind.
His face was dark and stormy.
"Chloe, you should go back first."
His voice was cold and devoid of warmth.
"I have matters to attend to."
Chloe Valentine immediately pouted.
She hated when he made excuses to leave.
"No!"
She tugged at his sleeve, whining.
"Unless you take me to dinner."
She batted her big eyes, pretending to be pitiful.
"I'll let you go after we eat."
Adrian had no patience for this.
He was about to refuse directly.
