Chapter 111

"Let's go inside and check."

If this bar didn't work out, she would have to give up on finding a part-time job.

Dreamland Bar was far better than the previous places they had visited.

The owner was a woman in her thirties, sharp and efficient.

She warmly greeted them as they entered. "Welcome."

She looked at the two girls with slight surprise. "Are you here for the job?"

Mia Lawrence spoke first. "We spoke on the phone. My friend wants to apply for the performer position."

The owner understood and turned to Anna Ross. "Sing a few lines for me."

Anna chose a familiar song and softly sang a verse.

The owner's eyes lit up with admiration. She couldn't help but applaud. "Excellent!"

"Eight to eleven PM. Seven hundred dollars per day. Can you accept that?"

Anna and Mia exchanged glances, nodding in pleasant surprise.

"I can do it."

The owner said cheerfully, "You can start tomorrow or the day after. Just contact me then."

They exchanged contact information before leaving.

Mia went home first due to her period. Anna returned to her room alone.

She collapsed onto the bed. Images of Adrian Sinclair and Chloe Valentine dining together suddenly flooded her mind.

Their marriage seemed inevitable. They would probably wed soon.

She sat up abruptly.

The memory of Grandpa Lowell's affectionate demeanor toward Chloe that morning remained vivid.

Would Adrian come to love her that way too?

"Anna Ross, these thoughts are not for you."

She shook her head, grabbed her clothes, and walked into the bathroom.

Hot water cascaded down, gradually soothing her restless heart.

She was drying her hair, ready for bed, when her phone rang.

It was her mother, Vivian Lowell.

Anna realized she had forgotten to check in.

Her mother's concerned voice came through immediately. "Anna, are you doing alright over there?"

"Mom, I'm fine. Don't worry." Her nose tingled with emotion.

Vivian sighed in relief. "No news for so many days. I'm just glad you're safe."

Anna's voice choked up. "I'll work hard to earn money. I'll take you away from here someday."

Vivian responded gently. "I know. Get some rest now. You have work tomorrow."
