Chapter 392

"Chloe, in my eyes, you are the best girl in the world."

Mrs. Valentine gripped her daughter's hand, her gaze intense.

"Not just Adrian Sinclair, you deserve a man a hundred times better than him."

Chloe's vanity swelled, finally bringing a smile to her face.

"Mom, don't worry." She squeezed her mother's hand back, fingers trembling slightly.

"My hatred is for Anna Ross. As for the marriage with Adrianโ€”I will never back down."

She clenched her jaw, her eyes clouded with darkness.

Anna was just an insignificant obstacle. A light crush would reduce her to dust.

A shrewd glint flashed in Mrs. Valentine's eyes. Adrian was the most sought-after marriage prospect in New York.

Securing this union would allow the Valentines to dominate the city's high society unchallenged.

She picked up a handful of sunflower seeds, cracking them slowly.

"Chloe, you need to learn how I handled your father back in the day." She spat out a shell, smiling faintly.

"A man's heart must be firmly in your grasp."

Chloe frowned. She had tried. But every time she got close, Adrian found an excuse to avoid her.

She couldn't even touch the hem of his shirt. The thought made her massage her temples in frustration.

"Mom, what should I do then?"

Mrs. Valentine set down the seeds, brushing the crumbs from her hands.

"Come here." She lowered her voice, a sly smile curling her lips.

Chloe leaned in. As she listened, her smile widened.

Adrian Sinclair. He was destined to be hers.

......

Lowell Group Headquarters.

Adrian stared darkly at the rejected proposal. Noah Watson stood nearby, barely breathing.

The mood of this stern taskmaster was clearly at its worst. No one dared to disturb him now.

After a long silence, Adrian finally set down the file and leaned heavily into his leather chair.

He closed his eyes, pressing his fingers against his temples.

This was the second rejection. The multinational project was crucial for the Lowell Group.

It seemed he would have to fly out personally.

"Noah." He opened his eyes suddenly and walked toward the coffee machine. "Any movement from Howard Lowell recently?"

Black coffee burned his throat, its bitterness spreading. He frowned slightly.

"He's been quiet, following all the rules at work." Noah reported respectfully. "But he's been meeting with one person frequently."

"Oh?" Adrian scoffed. "Who?"

He had already stationed people to watch Howard's every move. Nothing escaped his notice.

But he was more interested in the secret between Howard and Anna Ross. What was it?

Noah pulled up a photo on his phone and handed it over. "This person."

Adrian glanced at the screen, a smirk tugging at his lips. "As expected." Who else would Howard turn to?
