Chapter 380
Anna Ross blurted out, "I didn't!"
How could she ever joke about her own life? She never intended to ruin his engagement.
Adrian Sinclair's lips curled into a cold smirk. "Since I'm already here, drop the act. And what's the deal with that boyfriend of yours? Can't even take care of you properly? Useless."
"?"
Anna froze for a moment before realizing he meant Lucas Evans. But she wasn't even with Lucas.
"Let me out. I can go to the hospital myself. You can still make it back to the engagement party." She turned to look out the window.
Adrian didn't stop. Instead, he slammed on the accelerator. The car surged forward, its speed climbing as if fueled by his rage.
Hearing the words "engagement party" filled him with a restless irritation.
The sudden acceleration made Anna grip the door handle tightly. The car weaved through traffic, narrowly avoiding collisions several times. Her heart pounded in her chest.
What is he so crazy about now!?
The car soon screeched to a halt outside the hospital.
She shot an angry glare at the man beside her and pushed the door open to get out. But at that moment, her legs gave way, and she collapsed to the ground.
Before losing consciousness, she saw doctors and nurses running toward her.
. . . . . .
When Anna woke again, many people were gathered around her bed. Even before opening her eyes, she sensed trouble.
Sure enough, the first thing she heard upon opening them was Chloe Valentine's voice. "Executive Assistant Ross, you're finally awake. We've been waiting so long. Everyone was so worried about you."
Chloe was seething. During yesterday's engagement party, Adrian had defiantly left despite Grandpa Frederick's objections, lying about urgent company business.
He hadn't returned all night, completely ruining the engagement party. If she hadn't had people watching him, she wouldn't have known he'd run off to see this scheming woman!
Anna looked over. Adrian sat by the bed, exhaustion etched on his face. The injury on his hand was bandaged, but traces of blood still seeped through.
"Since she's awake, Adrian, it's time you came back with us." The old man cast a dismissive glance at the bed, his eyes full of disgust.
Anna knew he utterly despised her now. He was only holding back his outburst to maintain his dignity as the family patriarch.
Adrian rubbed his temples. "You all go back first."
"No. Adrian, if you're staying, then I'm staying here with you." Chloe immediately pulled up a chair and sat down, making it clear she wouldn't leave without him today.
She would never give them a chance to be alone. She wasn't that foolish.
The old man snorted coldly. "Adrian, what exactly are you trying to do!?" He spoke too hastily, erupting into a fit of coughing. Adrian turned back, his face filled with concern.
