Chapter 430

Adrian Sinclair closed the door.

He leaned against it.

His mind was filled with the image of Anna Ross trembling.

Her eyes, always so stubborn.

Now brimming with pure terror.

What could frighten her so deeply?

He took out his phone.

He dialed her number.

Anna Ross sat in the taxi.

Her phone screen glowed.

Her mother had just called.

Said she bought a new house.

Wanted her to come see it.

She was looking down, checking the address.

An incoming call suddenly popped up, startling her.

It was his name.

She hesitated for a moment.

Then answered.

"Are you home?"

His voice came through the receiver.

She paused, slightly surprised.

He cared about something so trivial?

Anna shook her head.

Dismissing those unnecessary thoughts.

She answered softly.

"Yes."

"Is there something you need, Mr. Sinclair?"

Silence fell on the other end.

She could hear his faint breathing.

After a long while, he spoke again.

"Do you have to call me that?"

His voice held suppressed emotion.

Mr. Sinclair.

It rolled off her tongue so easily.

Anna frowned.

Her tone remained calm.

"What else?"

"Should I call you Mr. Sinclair?"

"Or something else?"

He was her superior.

Of course she had to address him properly.

Adrian closed his eyes.

His knuckles pressed against his temples.

He finally chose to relent.

"Forget it."

"What happened at the airport today?"

He had to ask.

Anna cut him off.

"I said it was nothing."

"Why do you always press for details?"

Couldn't she have her own secrets?

Did he have to know everything?

Adrian stared at his phone.

The screen dimmed.

Then lit up again.

He was certain of one thing.

She found him annoying.

Anger flared within him.

He called specifically to check on her.

And she showed no appreciation.

He hung up directly.

Anna looked at the blackened screen.

She sighed softly.

He was truly an enigmatic man.

She glanced at the navigation.

Almost there.

She said to the driver, "Sir, you can stop here."

She paid and got out.

An ordinary residential complex stood before her.

She stood still for a moment, lost in thought.

Then entered Building 116.

Pressed the elevator button.

Her mother said she lived in 706.

A high floor.

The elevator was necessary.

Climbing the stairs would be exhausting.

She stood outside unit 706.

Pressed the doorbell.

The door opened quickly.

Vivian Lowell saw it was her.

A smile immediately spread across her face.

"Anna, you came so fast?"

"Come in, come in."

Anna smiled sweetly.

Handed her bag to her mother.

"I came as soon as you called."

She looked around the new home.

Not very spacious.

Not comparable to the San Francisco villa.

But much better than a hotel.

Vivian's smile was especially radiant.

"Anna, come sit."

"Let me get you some fruit."

Vivian took her hand.

Led her to the living room sofa.

Anna thought about helping.

But obediently sat down instead.

A sports game played on the TV.

Probably left on by Howard Lowell.

She knew her mother didn't enjoy watching these.
