Chapter 294

Noah Watsonโ€™s eyes flickered with surprise.

โ€œIf somethingโ€™s troubling you, Anna, you can tell me.โ€

โ€œIt might be presumptuous to say this, but after working together for so long, I consider you a true friend.โ€

Anna Ross didnโ€™t know how to respond.

She offered a faint smile.

โ€œThank you.โ€

Her gaze drifted to the restaurant downstairs.

Remembering the morningโ€™s events, she asked casually, โ€œHave you ever been to that restaurant downstairs, Noah?โ€

Noah glanced down and shook his head with a smile.

โ€œNo. Itโ€™s part of Sinclair Groupโ€™s holdings.โ€

โ€œI usually eat at the employee cafeteria.โ€

Anna froze for a moment.

No wonder she hadnโ€™t needed to pay during breakfastโ€”it was his familyโ€™s business.

โ€œDo you want to eat there, Anna?โ€ Noahโ€™s tone held genuine surprise.

She quickly waved her hand.

โ€œJust curious.โ€

Checking the time, she stood up.

โ€œItโ€™s getting late. I should return to my desk.โ€

Noah nodded and bid her farewell.

When she returned to her workstation, Chloe Valentine was gone.

But that tall, imposing figure remained standing nearby.

Recalling their earlier confrontation, Anna approached with an expressionless face.

She handed him the documents, her voice cool.

โ€œWhat you asked for.โ€

Adrian Sinclair raised an eyebrow, amused by her sharp tone.

โ€œAre you upset that I didnโ€™t defend you earlier?โ€ He stepped closer, his shadow enveloping her.

Anna retreated half a step, her face tense.

โ€œWhy would I be upset? Sheโ€™s your fiancรฉe. Itโ€™s natural for you to believe her.โ€

She shoved the documents into his arms and deftly returned to her seat.

โ€œIf thereโ€™s nothing else, Mr. Sinclair, I need to work.โ€

Adrian stood silently, not leaving.

He hadnโ€™t misheardโ€”was she actually jealous?

โ€œI knew it wasnโ€™t your fault earlier.โ€ His voice came from beside her, calm yet startling.

She had just regained her composure, but his words shook her again.

Adrian watched her slender back, his gaze deepening.

Seeing her fragile shoulders, a sudden ache pierced his heart.

Before Anna could speak, Adrian moved in front of her.

His expression softened.

โ€œDonโ€™t dwell on itโ€ฆโ€

โ€œWhat I mean is, donโ€™t let someone like that upset you.โ€

His eyes flickered as he held back further concern.

Anna stared at him in stunned silence.

She was surprised by his trust, and even more by his concern.

He shouldโ€ฆ hate her.

โ€œMr. Sinclair, hereโ€™s the quarterly report you requested.โ€

Noahโ€™s voice interrupted abruptly.

Anna snapped back to reality and lowered her head quickly.

โ€œUnderstood. Iโ€™ll get back to work.โ€

Adrian glanced at Noah and led him into the office.

Before turning away, he gave her a deep, lingering look.

Howard Lowell would be arriving at the company soon.

When that time came, he would uncoverโ€”exactly what she was hiding.
