Anna Ross scanned the code to pay.

She reached for the shopping bag the clerk held.

Two hands extended toward her at the same time.

Adrian Sinclair and Julian Garnache's hands collided.

"Give it to me," Julian said to the clerk.

The clerk froze, at a loss.

Both customers had overpowering presence.

She didn't dare offend either.

Adrian curled his lips.

"Must you compete over such trivial matters, Mr. Garnache?"

Julian remained unfazed.

"Aren't you doing the same, Mr. Sinclair?"

Anna massaged her temples in frustration.

She was about to reach for it herself.

Mia Lawrence suddenly tugged Julian's arm.

"Julian, my bags are so heavy."

She pouted and shook her shopping bags.

Julian immediately took her things.

Adrian smoothly picked up Anna's bag.

He shot Julian a triumphant look.

Julian couldn't be bothered to argue.

He turned to help Mia organize her items.

Anna wanted to retrieve her belongings.

"I'll take her."

He already ushered her into the passenger seat.

The black Maybach sped away.

Mia watched the taillights disappear, lost in thought.
