Chapter 161
Sophia Roscente blinked, crunching a potato chip in her mouth.
"He would never tell me. I figured it out myself."
"Figured it out?" Anna Ross clenched her fingers.
Was it really that obvious between them?
Sophia swallowed her snack, her voice crisp.
"The first time I saw you, something felt off. There was this strange vibe between you and my cousin."
She leaned closer to Anna, lowering her voice.
"Now I'm one hundred percent sure. You're his first love."
Anna lowered her gaze.
So it had been a test from the very beginning.
Sophia waved a finger.
"Don't space out. It's simple."
She suddenly turned serious.
"If you still like my cousin, you need to hurry."
Anna looked up.
Sophia spoke earnestly.
"His family arranged a marriage for him. I heard it's going well."
Anna shot to her feet.
Howard Lowell's threat echoed in her ears.
If Adrian Sinclair really married someone else...
She rushed into her room and grabbed her phone, dialing her mother.
The busy tone rang continuously.
Anna's heart beat faster and faster.
The call finally connected.
Anna spoke urgently.
"Mom, are you okay?"
Vivian Lowell's voice was gentle.
"Don't worry, I'm fine."
Anna sighed in relief.
Vivian asked softly.
"Anna, what's wrong? Are you doing alright in New York?"
Anna forced a smile.
"I miss you."
Vivian sighed.
"Mom misses you too. Any progress with the branch company?"
Anna's fingers tightened.
She remembered Adrian's cold profile.
"Don't worry, Mom." She heard her own voice say. "Mr. Sinclair has agreed to help."
