Chapter 404
"Come help me if you're done."
Adrian Sinclair didn't look up, his gaze still fixed on the computer screen.
Anna Ross hesitated for a moment, thinking it would be good to help, and walked over.
Adrian patted the sofa beside him, signaling her to sit.
The sofa was spacious, but the spot he indicated was wedged between him and the armrest, leaving little space.
Sitting there would inevitably mean being pressed close against him.
"What do you need me to do?" She hesitated briefly before circling to the other side and sitting down a bit farther from him.
Adrian noticed her subtle maneuver but said nothing, simply moving the computer closer to her.
Anna shifted away uncomfortably.
He reached out to stop her. "Review this proposal."
He crossed his long legs and draped his arm along the back of the sofa, almost encircling her shoulders.
Anna glanced sideways; his fingers were mere inches from her shoulder.
Adrian noticed her prolonged stillness and asked softly, "Executive Assistant Ross, we're discussing work. What's on your mind?"
He leaned in closer, his presence suddenly enveloping her.
Anna shook her head hurriedly. "Nothing. I'm looking at the proposal."
She forced a smile and lowered her head to look at the computer screen.
What she saw left her stunned.
The proposal was brilliant, every step flawless.
If the partner rejected it, they simply had no vision.
She became so absorbed that she didn't notice Adrian quietly moving closer.
She was dressed softly today, in a light blue cardigan over a white lace camisole dress that accentuated her lovely figure.
White suited her exceptionally well, making her already delicate features even more captivating.
After reviewing the proposal, Anna found it impeccable.
She turned to report her thoughts but found herself meeting his deep, intense eyes up close.
The corner of Adrian's mouth lifted, his breath warm. "You look beautiful today."
Anna immediately flustered, her cheeks turning crimson. "You... you're insane."
He asked her to review the proposal, yet he was doing this?
How utterly shameless!
Seeing her flustered and trying to retreat, Adrian's eyes sparkled with deeper amusement.
He straightened up and pointed to the computer. "Well? Does it need any revisions?"
Anna was impressed by how quickly he switched topics, but work was important. She composed herself and said seriously, "It's already perfect."
She was just a lowly executive assistant. How could her opinion matter?
But Adrian raised an eyebrow. "Then it's settled."
Anna still felt uneasy. "Maybe you should have someone else take a look?"
