Chapter 323
Howard Lowell gently tugged at Anna Ross's sleeve.
He whispered a reproach.
"Anna."
"Just admit your mistake."
"Grandpa will forgive you."
The old man cut in coldly.
"No explanations needed."
"Let her leave."
He stood up to depart.
Chloe Valentine shot a triumphant glance at Anna.
She hurried forward to support him.
The door suddenly swung open.
Adrian Sinclair stepped inside.
The air instantly froze.
"Grandpa."
"What brings you to the company?"
His gaze swept over Anna.
He helped the old man sit back down.
Grandpa looked displeased.
"Someone here made a mistake."
"I came to handle it for you."
Chloe lowered her head silently.
Adrian saw through it at once.
"Grandpa."
"You entrusted the company to me."
"How to handle matters..."
"Should be my decision."
His breathing was slightly rushed.
He seemed to have hurried over.
Anna's fingertips tightened.
She worried her absence would be exposed.
Chloe sensed trouble.
He was actually defending her.
She suddenly feigned grievance.
"Grandpa."
"It's my fault for meddling."
"Please punish me instead."
Grandpa patted her hand.
"Good child."
"The one who should be punished is the wrongdoer."
Anna started to speak.
But Adrian's look stopped her.
Adrian chuckled lightly.
"Since Grandpa mentioned mistakes..."
"It reminds me of the proposal incident."
He tapped his fingers lightly on the desk.
Chloe's heart leaped in fear.
Howard watched coldly from the sidelines.
Secretly pleased.
Anna was stunned.
He was confronting Grandpa for her.
Grandpa choked with anger.
"You..."
Adrian's gaze turned icy.
"Director Valentine."
"The proposal was your responsibility."
Chloe panicked.
"Adrian."
"Let me explain."
Grandpa rose abruptly.
"Adrian."
"What are you doing?"
Adrian stood firm.
"I'm punishing the wrongdoer."
"If you're dissatisfied, Grandpa..."
"I will no longer manage the company."
Howard's eyes gleamed.
Grandpa swayed slightly.
Chloe quickly steadied him.
"Adrian."
"Don't upset Grandpa."
Emotion flickered in Adrian's eyes.
He finally suppressed it.
Grandpa waved his hand with a sigh.
"Enough."
"I won't force you."
"Manage the company well."
